When Robert Stump arrived for work at the Belle Terre Swim and Racquet Club in Palm Coast at 6 Monday morning, he found the door to the pool office kicked in, and $75 missing from the cash register. The cash register drawer was on the floor.
The club had been the target of an overnight bruglary.
The pool office closed at 4 p.m. Sunday. No one was scheduled to be in the office after hours, Stump told a Flagler County Sheriff’s deputy. Deputies canvassed the area without results. Stump told police he believes “some kids from the neighborhood are responsible.”
The club is owned and run by the Flagler County school district’s adult education division, generating revenue through memberships and day users of the swimming pool and the health club. The district had slated the facility for closure this year until a public effort and scaled back hours helped keep the club open.

Why is this funded through the school district and not city owned like Palm Harbor Golf Club?
palmcoaster says
@ Frederick, because when ITT/ICDC developer of Palm Coast that owned this facility used as bait to attract buyers for those homes located specially nearby the Swim and Tennis Club then,on their ICDC/ITT departure gave/turned the facility to the school board and not to the county that then was the government running then “unincorporated Palm Coast”.
ITT/ICDC used also the Matanzas and Pine Lakes and Palm Harbor and other designer golf courses to attract home buyers to buy in unincorporated Palm Coast. Also we had the the Sun SportsClub with a gorgeous ocean front pool http://www.palmcoasthistory.org/PDFs/PC_Historian_36.pdf by what now became private ocean front property developed by Gynn now Salamander under county rule before Palm Coast incorporation. That was also another ITT/ICDC bait and one more promised amenity taken away from us. Our Palm Coast history will open your eyes and maybe build a case in our favor that all may enjoy reading: http://www.flaglerlibraryfriend.com/holden/coalition/flag1n.htm.
Is good to know our history (were we come from) to build a better future?

Was the Federal Trade Agreement between ICDC/ITT, the Feds and the resident home buyers brokenand non complied by ICDC?http://palmcoastcorehomes.tripod.com/id20.html

The school district should get out of the pool club business
Elizabeth says
They have tried over and over again but you the community will not let them close the facility. Even though they lose thousands of dollars a month. Adult Education came very close until the school board back down again to the public and let it stay open. Maybe what you should be asking the school board is where is the money coming from to support the monthly losses of the BTS&RC and the high salaries of those who run it.
Diane says
I agree Elizabeth …..if the pool is losing thousands of dollars every month….. Where does this extra money come from ? What programs are suffering because they are subsidizing the pool business ? And how can the school board transfer funds for a failing business . Does the school board have that much extra money floating around ? You then have to wonder what other programs are suffering because their “school money” is ending up somewhere else………. Wake up Palm Coast …..
