Democrat Morley Qualifies for House Seat By Petition

Adam Morley, the Democratic candidate for the House District 24 seat held by Republican Paul Renner, said in a release today that he had qualified for the race by petition.

Morley was required to collect 1,177 verified petitions. He collected more than 1,400, hen said in the release. Candidates generally collect somewhat more petitions than they need to ensure against disqualification, as supervisors of election, who verify the petitions, will toss the occasional petition improperly filled out. Qualifying by petition saved Morley $1,781, or 6 percent of the salary for the position he seeks. He is a St. Augustine resident and charter boat captain with St. Augustine Eco Tours

District 24 includes all of Flagler, northern Volusia and southern St Johns counties. Morley is the only candidate other than the incumbent who has filed to run in the seat he contested against Renner in a special election last year. Qualifying, however, does not end until noon on June 24. If no one else qualifies, Morley and Renner will not face a primary on Aug. 30 but contest the seat in the general election on Nov. 8.

Asking tough questions is increasingly met with hostility. The political climate—nationally and right here in Flagler County—is at war with fearless reporting. Officials and powerbrokers often prefer echo chambers to accountability. They want news that flatters, not news that informs. They want stenographers. We give them journalism. You know by now, after 16 years, that FlaglerLive won’t be intimidated. We dig. We don't sanitize to pander or please. We report reality, no matter who it upsets. Even you. But standing up to this kind of pressure requires resources. We need a community that values courage over comfort. Stand with us, and help us hold the line. Fund the journalism they don't want you to read. No paywall. But it's not free. Take a moment, become a champion of enlightening journalism. Any amount helps. Mr Morley is a great guy who loves and cares about our community. This is not just a stepping stone for him to obtain another job, like I believe his opponent is in it for. Please take a look at him. He lives in the area, has lived here and plans to stay here. He truly wants to help our community. Good luck Adam, you have my vote, for sure.

Adam has our vote too. He is one of us and a Floridian by birth that deeply cares about our communities. He is for the local small businesses that create the local jobs.
He is for the preservation of our pristine water ways and lands for our future generations.
He is for clean energy and our right to choose solar power and other sources if we want.
He is for campaign reform, so our representatives are not elected by $$ for more $$ but instead elected by “we the people” to improve our lives and preserve our America the beautiful for our children and grand children.
I have know Adam many years ago always gathering volunteers to clean up our waterways and we volunteered with him. Adam will represent us well as he does not represent the “usual establishment”, instead he will lobby for exactly what we need in America today!

For as long as I’ve known Adam Morley, he has been true to his word. He is a man with integrity. He puts others before himself.

Adam puts forth an image of what a politician should be. I trust Adam to do an outstanding job in Florida’s State House of Representatives. Adam’s determination inspires many. Keep up the good work, Adam Morley.

I am a Democratic Volunteer. I have seen first hand that Adam is a hard working candidate who is easily accessible and willing to talk to constituents about his platform and vision for district 24. I also admire Adam as a candidate who volunteers for community events. He will be serving dinners tomorrow night at our Spaghetti Dinner (sorry…sold out event,) and also will be getting “dunked” at our Democratic Communtiy Picnic on June 4th. Dunk-a-Morley! Visit Flagler Live community event posting for Picnic information.
