In Court: The Dorothy Singer murder trial is in recess until Thursday because of a pre-scheduled commitment for the judge.
In Court: Lucille Horton, the 71-year-old Grand Haven resident accused of vehicular homicide in the death of her husband, Richard Resnicoff, in 2013, is tried before Circuit Judge Dennis Craig starting at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 401 at the Flagler County courthouse. It is a non-jury trial.
The Palm Coast Planning Board meets at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall in Town Center. The board will review and consider recommending a site review plan for a 99-bed 67,280 square ft. assisted living facility, including a memory care, lock-down unit for dementia patients, at 144 Cypress Point Parkway (500 feet east of Pine Cone Drive on the south side of Cypress Point Parkway). The site in March 2016 was originally slated for a project called Starling of Palm Coast Assisted Living Facility, a 74-unit, 86-beds operation that was never built. The owners put the property up for sale. A contracted purchaser, NXC Palm Coast Owner, LLC of Denver, Colorado is the current applicant. See details here.

Ferry Service Resumes at Fort Matanzas: The National Park Service is pleased to announce that our ferry to Fort Matanzas National Monument will officially resume service on May 14th at 9:30am. For the last two years our ferry service and dock system at Fort Matanzas were severely damaged, first by Hurricane Matthew in October 2016, and again in September 2017 by Hurricane Irma. Repairs to both ferry boats and dock system have recently been completed, inspected, and service to the fort is resuming. We appreciate the patience and good will we received from our visitors who often travel great distances to visit St. Augustine and Fort Matanzas National Monument. JUDGE HEARS MEDICAL MARIJUANA CASE: Leon County Circuit Judge Karen Gievers is slated to hear arguments in a lawsuit challenging a state ban on smoking medical marijuana. Lawmakers included the ban in a law that was designed to carry out a 2016 constitutional amendment that broadly legalized medical cannabis. The challenge argues that the ban on smoking marijuana violates the constitutional amendment. (Wednesday, 10 a.m., Leon County Courthouse, 301 South Monroe St., Tallahassee.)

The Scott campaign has brushed off the allegations as a smear campaign

A Democratic group accusing Rick Scott of illegally relying on a Super PAC to prepare for his U.S. Senate campaign has amended its complaint with what it says is more evidence of illegal overlap between the Scott campaign and the New Republican PAC Scott until recently led.
“As if there wasn’t already enough evidence that Rick Scott has been breaking election law, a wave of new examples have surface in the several days. The amount of shady political tricks Scott will employ to advance his own political agenda is striking – and larger symbol for his tenure as governor,” said Adam Bozzi, communications director for End Citizens United. “In light of this new information, the FEC should investigate Scott immediately. Florida deserves better.”
