Same Driver, 2 Successive Hit-and-Run Crashes on Palm Coast Parkway

Daniel Reyes was involved in two alleged hit-and-run crashes on Palm Coast Parkway on June 19.
Daniel Reyes was involved in two alleged hit-and-run crashes on Palm Coast Parkway on June 19.

Daniel Reyes, 27, a resident of Palm Coast’s Farnsworth Drive, is due in court before County Judge Melissa Moore-Stens Aug. 1 after he was charged with two successive hit-and-run crashes in the heart of Palm Coast on Monday afternoon.

Reyes was driving a gold 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier. According to a Flagler County Sheriff’s arrest report, he first rear-ended a Ford SUV at the intersection of Palm Coast Parkway and Clubhouse Drive just before 4 p.m. on June 19. He then “reversed aggressively, cut the wheel and rotated 180 degrees,” the report states. “The Chevrolet then accelerated away from that crash scene. The Chevrolet then ran the stop sign of Clubhouse Dr and Palm Coast Parkway SE and struck a silver Volkswagen Jetta. The impact caused the Chevrolet to roll and the Jetta to leave the roadway and strike a tree.”

The driver of the Jetta then saw Reyes, who was wearing just gray shorts, get out of the Chevrolet and run into the woods.

None of the other drivers were injured in the crashes.

A sheriff’s deputy found Reyes at Palm Coast Parkway and Florida Park Drive, with many abrasions on his body. He was not cooperative, according to the report, “and made the statement that all we cared about was writing tickets for the crash.” He was read his Miranda rights and refused to answer questions. He was taken to Florida Hospital Flagler, and due to his injuries, he was given a notice to appear before the judge.

Reyes faces two counts of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, a second-degree misdemeanor. Last year Reyes was sentenced to six months’ probation on a drug paraphernalia charge in a plea deal that dropped a charge of domestic battery against him. A few months later he was cited for operating a motorcycle without license, but that charge was dropped.

how many more chances till he kills people or seriously hurts them… No probation.. a little jail time may turn him around and keep the streets safer

Put him in jail until his trial or order an electronic bracelet and restrict him to house arrest until trial.

What am I missing here? “Last year Reyes was sentenced to six months’ probation on a drug paraphernalia charge in a plea deal that dropped a charge of domestic battery against him. A few months later he was cited for operating a motorcycle without license, but that charge was dropped.” When will the courts learn?

So what happens this time – do the charges get dropped to Jay-Walking? Come on people get a grip. I will never be convinced that simply sitting in a county jail does anything to change the warped or criminal mind, sometimes, we just need to get a dangerous person off the streets to find out what the underlying problem is. As Blondee said;”That boys not right.” He obviously needs help; professional, get in his head and find the problems help, not a lessened charge that will put him back on the streets with probation to continue his unhealthy ways. Please let the prosecutors and the judge get it right this time.

The next time this guy shows up on FlaglerLive it will most likely be another car accident report where he had killed one or more people while driving recklessly. So what does it take to get this guy off the roads?

They should have sent the K9 in the woods after him (love to here scumbags scream like 9 year old girls)

I’m seeing a pattern here. Another menace to society released back into the public again and again with dropped charges. Let me guess. The judge will get real tough this time and give him 6 months probation.

Court system should give him three choices: 1> Join the Marine Corps, 2> Volunteer for the Peace Corps and successfully serve 3 years, or in either case, 3> Do not pass Go, do not collect $200, go directly to Jail!

“two successive hit-and-run crashes in the heart of Palm Coast on Monday afternoon”. Wow “Last year Reyes was sentenced to six months’ probation on a drug paraphernalia charge in a plea deal that dropped a charge of domestic battery against him. A few months later he was cited for operating a motorcycle without license, but that charge was dropped. ”

Thank you thank you Flagler County Justice System. Maybe another drop the charges deal, or just place him on parole and slap his hands, YET AGAIN. Next time he just might kill someone behind the wheel and then what !

OMG. Any of you wouldn’t take a plea deal to save your skin? A bunch of innocent angels right?
I agree the guy is scummy but should the working class have to support these morons in jail for battery and drug paraphernalia? Should we just lock everyone arrested and throw away the key? Seriously, get a grip.
Even now I doubt he’ll spend much time in jail so don’t get all worked up about it. There are better things to worry about.
