The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating an elderly St. Johns County man who was last seen at his St. Augustine South home Monday morning. The man, identified as Howard Franklin, 83, was last seen at his residence in the 300 block of Orchis Rd., Monday at 7 a.m. by a relative.

A Silver Alert has been issued for Mr. Franklin due to his diminished mental capacity.

Franklin is described as a white male, 83 years old, 6’1” tall, 180 pounds with white hair. He should be driving his 2006 silver Toyota Tundra extended cab pickup truck with a Florida tag of B46 1GA.

The pickup truck has a diamond plate tool box in the bed. Anyone with any information concerning the whereabouts of this man is asked to contact the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at 904/824-8304, or 911.

I hope this gentleman is found safe and soon. But, why does he still have access to a drivable vehicle if his mental capacity is diminished? I hope that he is found soon and that this question will be addressed.

I just saw an article that says that Mr. Franklin was located safe and sound in Virginia. The “silver alert” has been cancelled.
