Rockwell Meets Rubio: A Tea Party Photo Gallery

April 15, 2010 | FlaglerLive | Leave a Comment

© FlaglerLive
Defying the trend, Norman Rockwell grew more liberal with age: he recognized a compelling subject when he saw one (see his “Southern Justice” painting from 1965). Chances are he’d have recognized an equally worthy subject in the Tea Party movement, if for radically different reasons: The Tea Party movement is an essentially American phenomenon. It is the increasingly brittle crust of the nation’s mythical apple pie, and like all things crusty, it has its appeal even as it crumbles at the slightest pressure.

On Thursday, April 15, the Palm Coast, Fla., Tea Party branch of the movement held its Tax Day rally in the heart of the city–at the intersection of Palm Coast Parkway and Old Kings Road. This photo gallery is drawn from the course of the two-hour event. Read a full account of the rally here and a more personal take on the event here.
