By Marge Baker
Long before he set his sights on the White House, Donald Trump was showing his misogynistic colors.
He became notorious for using the press and social media to publicly attack women, calling them “dogs” and “fat pigs.” He objectified and degraded women while making his reality show The Apprentice, where former staffers said he talked openly about women’s breast sizes and was “obsessed with menstruation.”
So when, as a presidential candidate, Trump famously said there should be “some form of punishment” for women who get abortions and insulted his rival Carly Fiorina’s appearance, it came as no surprise. Trump’s attacks on women have been going strong for decades.
But the GOP’s problem with women began well before Trump became its presumptive nominee. For years the Republican Party has been relentlessly pushing policies aimed at curtailing women’s reproductive rights, economic freedom, access to health care, and autonomy.
For example, GOP-led statehouses have enacted close to 300 abortion restrictions in the past five years alone, representing over 25 percent of all abortion restrictions since Roe v. Wade.
These provisions include controversial Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers statutes, or TRAP laws, which aim to force clinics that provide abortions to close when they can’t meet unnecessary regulations. TRAP laws — like the controversial HB2 law in Texas, which was rightfully struck down by the Supreme Court this summer — limit women’s access to safe abortions under the guise of protecting women’s health.
Moreover, Republicans in Congress voted eight times in one year to defund Planned Parenthood, one of the leading providers of health care in the United States. And across the country, Republican governors have signed laws cutting state funding to the organization.
Make no mistake: These are attempts to cut funding for critical health care services, including the provision of contraceptives, STI testing, and breast cancer screenings. The cuts show a lack of respect for the autonomy of women and a lack of understanding about the necessity of women’s access to healthcare services.
The GOP has also been a massive roadblock to women achieving greater economic security for themselves and their families. Republicans in Congress have repeatedly blocked the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would help to achieve greater pay equity for women, as well as proposals to increase the minimum wage and provide paid sick leave for employees, both of which are critical to women’s economic stability.
Even when Congress reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act in 2013, it was over the protests of 160 Republicans in the House and Senate who voted against it.
Donald Trump has eagerly taken up this GOP campaign to roll back women’s rights. He wants to defund Planned Parenthood and ban abortions. His solution to the gender pay gap is that women should “do as good a job” as men. While some Republicans in Congress have tried to distance themselves from Trump on some of his most inflammatory rhetoric, their policies show that they’re in lock step with him.
Trump’s verbal attacks are bad enough. But an expansion of his party’s policies — policies that Trump has enthusiastically embraced — would be even worse for women and the issues that shape our health and economic wellbeing.

I feel that abortion is a crime & women should be treated as a criminal & should the doctor who performs the abortion. When you have an abortion, you are killing a defenseless life. As for the Government being involved, I don’t think they should get involved at all when it comes to women’s health. If a woman wants birth control then she can pay for it, I sure as hell paid for my birth control, not the government & I don’t think I could ever kill an innocent life growing inside me. Motherhood is the best thing that happened to me & I understand that motherhood isn’t for everyone; so if you wanna play, get ready to pay. If you don’t want to pay the price for having irresponsible sex, then give the baby up for adoption, don’t kill an innocent life

This is a strongly biased political hit piece. It makes no mention of the huge scandal of Planned Parenthood selling baby parts nor of Hillary’s support of Margaret Sanger’s racist beliefs. It has no value as anything except a stand alone hit piece. Publishing stuff like this will COST you readers. And it makes the slogan at the top look very iffy. Think before publishing stuff like this

The only right a woman has over reproduction is to say yes or no to having sex. Once she has voluntary sex and becomes pregnant then there are two other people who have rights, the innocent baby inside her and the father of the baby. In cases of rape or incest the law should be much tougher on the rapist up to and including making the most heinous rapes capitol crimes punishable by death.
Over It says
I dont understand how anyone can condemn, in the name of their God, women, who Had to go through abortion, in a time in thier lives, when it was necessary . Its not a happy event, if anything, your “christian” hearts should reach out to any -that need acceptance & understanding-, rather than condemnation, I dont think my God,would approve of hating women, who needed that choice. Your hate is better placed, at t the feet of those who are responsible for refugees, wars, and the human suffering that goes along, on both sides, from this.
Flagler4Trump says
Calling Rosie O’Donnell a fat pig is hardly a problem for Republican Women. It’s not a problem for any woman.
Covering for and threatening women who’ve been raped by your husband is a big problem for all women.
The Clinton’s have a much bigger issue with women than Donald Trump does. Rape and anger towards rape victims is far more appalling than vocal admiration of the female form.
PCer says
So…. who will pay for the needs of an unwanted baby born to a 15 year old raped by her stepfather? Will it be the GOP members who scream NO ABORTION – but no welfare either? When a 17 year old gets pregnant because the schools are forced to teach abstinence when every fiber of their being is pushing them towards reproduction (because that is just nature) will “Anonymus” or “Trapper” take that baby in to their home? (Probably not).
Nobody is pro-abortion. Women do not seek out abortion to “kill their baby”. They seek it out to save their own lives. Instead of cutting funding and demonizing women, how about we increase education and access to birth control. How about we teach our sons to “wrap it up”? EVERY TIME!!! (After all, it takes 2) How about we offer day after pills to rape victims and create a system where they are not too shamed to report their rape?
This is not about being pro-abortion, it is about being pro-choice. Choices are made everyday and it is not up to the government to take those choices away. You can make the choice to cut funding to Planned Parenthood and similar organizations, but that does not mean you will get rid of abortion. It just means that more women will go to backroom clinics… leading to even more death, or higher medical bills for all of us when those uninsured girls end up in the emergency room bleeding out (uninsured because if Trump is elected, the Affordable Care Act also goes out the window.)
Education, awareness, and access to care are the keys to reducing abortions. Banning it will never work.

BARBARA BOXER Says Donald Trump “said a woman should be punished for exercising her right to choose.”
Politifact Truth Meter and many other sources
This statement is 100% false. This came out of an interview with Chris Matthews on MSNBC. Matthews was hammering away at Trump repeatedly asking him variations on women’s rights questions. Trump was being rather evasive, as all politicians usually are on the tough questions, when Matthews rephrased his question to ask “Do you believe a women should be punished for getting an illegal abortion?”. Trump replied “Illegal?” Matthews said “Yes.” Then Trump answered “Yes.”
The media jumped all over this for weeks but they all left out the word “illegal,” intentionally or otherwise. From the NBC Nightly News to Saturday Night Live everyone just hammered him for saying what Barbara Boxer said. And they all left out the word “Illegal”. Trump did not say what the punishment would be, nor did Matthews ask him that. They all just misrepresented the fact Trump felt a person should be punished for doing something — anything — illegal.
Please check this with Matthews videotape and set the story straight. I don’t much like Trump but as a person with a degree in Journalism I am really disgusted with the state of reporting today.

Thank you PCer. . . you are most certainly Correct! The vast majority of “right to lifers” only want to take women’s rights over their own bodies away. Once a birth happens there is NO longer the passionate support for the life of the child. They continue to chip away a the rights provided by Roe vs Wade in every way possible. But, these same “hypocrites” most often want taxes cut for any kind of support for the mothers and families burdened by that additional mouth to feed. I don’t hear any outrage over “dead beat dads” from those pontificating here! Their chauvinistic comments are sickening and outrageous to any liberated woman!
Trump calling ANY woman a “fat pig” and remarking on the looks of a competing candidate for office is a huge problem for any woman who has any self esteem. Such rhetoric SHOULD be completely unacceptable for men as well. . . actually it is unacceptable for intelligent, educated, civilized, caring men.
Trump is most certainly not only a sexist but a misogynist as well. He obviously treats women only as objects. . . judging them foremost on their physical appearance alone. He has quite a long history of disparaging women. To defend him is to show that you are just the same as he is. . . despicable and deplorable!

We have many more serious problems to resolve in America other than a woman’s privacy, her right to choose and authority over her own body. GOP’s want the government to stay out of everything but NOT out of women’s bodies…? Chauvinist intrusion.
Also these son’s and daughter of immigrants want to keep all else out of coming to America…why? because you arrived first? as except for our proud Native American Tribes they are the only and first one’s with rights to our land, all others are immigrants the came or are coming to America like Neil Diamond sings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTSLRbm8L9E. Republicans are quick to jump on Bill’s past affairs while easily dismissing those in the GOP. Trump has had 5 children with 3 different wives and changes his marriage as easily as he changes his ties made in China. Bill and Hillary have not had the easiest of marriages, but at least they are still together and they are making it work.
Republican women should have a problem with him, but they are blinded by what they want to see and can’t see what is right in front of their face. If you don’t like Hillary, then don’t vote for her, there are other choices that don’t completely throw Republican (and American) values out the window.
Lin says
The Democrats just can’t stop segmenting the population. Women are people too.
My head just about exploded listening to Bill and his sentimental stories about his wife. We know their whole storybook relationship is one big lie. I won’t list his women issues — issues the dems covered up when they could but this is a president who was impeached for goodness sake. What a con job. And the lies and scandals committed by Hillary go unreported, and misreported and minimized.
Trump words have been twisted into pretzels by the dems and used against him — lots of words that were said before his candidacy. But yes, definitely not politically correct Sind of the name calling. But I’d rather hear a few bad words than have the big reveal if the things Bill and Hillary have DONE. Dems are very good at managing the news and as I have finally been reading proof of the managing the media people and outlets.
Most objectionable about this article is that women are portrayed as a big voting block to be targeted for votes based on so-called women’s issues. We are multi-faceted people who are affected by all decisions made by the leaders. Hillary is trying to become the 1st woman President trading on her sex yet also trading in the fantasies that everything is just wonderful due to that fundamental change that the Obama/Clinton administration achieved.
I care that
Cops killings are 78% higher this year
Cop prosecutions are undertaken for political reasons
Where is the outrage for dead cops?
Race relationships are so much more tense and broken since the disuniter in chief has chosen to fight only for one segment of the population
Isis is not taken seriously as an evil violent, strong, cruel to the max and our response is minimal.
Islamic extreme terrorism is minimized, and blamed on jobs, lack of love, thousands of years ago sins of other religions or whatever other smokescreen is handy. Meanwhile, Europe dies, Americans die, Middle Easterners die,etc etc
Our military is disrespected in so many ways with lack of proper treatment by VA to poor condition of equipment and lowering of service members in wartime, Obama not listening to advice of his generals, embarrassing apology tour, Russian reset, etc.
I care about the Laws broken by the administration and their consequences
I care that Obama said that it would be so if the borders were opened to illegals
He did it anyway
We have illegal immigrant crimes, strain on our budget for schools, hospitals, and cultural problems. We need legal immigrants who want to be Americans and not colonize US.
Wages are down especially middle class $4,000 year
More people on food stamps
Why exhault illegals by displaying them at the DNC convention?
I care we do not enforce our border laws
I care that terrorists are let out of prison to help Isis
Regarding reproductive rights
We have them
Abortion is legal as is birth control
I would agree with the above writer that there are some state provisions that are restrictive– some that I also disagree with. But we do have some rights that are given to states to decide. We are the United States, not every single law the same everywhere. Some decisions are reconciled by the Supreme Court.
I believe that Hillary is anti woman
She needs to stop applauding herself for the sex she was born with – no need to take credit for that. Stop dividing the country. She needs to look at the violence against women perpetrated by the countries that her charity takes money from, countries where violence has increased and spread its hate and murder all over the world. Trump calling someone fat is just a silly thing compared to this.
I care about global warming if it exists as a consequence of man
But it is not more important than a violent extremist threat and the economic health of my country
Hillary has accomplished nothing
Being a woman is not an actual accomplishment
I care about so much more but I’m even boring myself with all these words
But I don’t care if the president is a woman
Trump has less problems with women than the democrats would have you believe
We don’t want war either but the world is the way it is & and O and H made it more violent and even if they release butterflies and doves at the convention my eyes are open

As a (1) woman, (2) well-educated, and (3) immigrant (legal) I would like to think I have some critical thinking skills as opposed to just posting media bias from various websites and mouthing the party line.
As a WOMAN, I would NEVER vote for Hillary Clinton. The article written above is just more of the progressive narrative which some people are more than willing to buy without investigating the facts (and I don’t mean quoting or posting from various websites). As a woman, don’t have a problem with TRUMP at all. One of the speakers (Planned Parenthood?) at the convention said that Hillary will be elected by women. I disagree. Most women I know can’t stand Hillary.
One thing I’ve learned in life is that most people are far to willing to accept a lie than face the truth. This way, by accepting non-truths and “the message” one doesn’t have to take responsibility for the outcome. I see it in healthcare every day. I always say, “It’s much easier to fall back than it is to pull yourself up/forward)”. In other words, it’s easier to accept a message at face value than do the work required to find out the truth (take a look at World Net Daily or Drudge). If all you do is listen to network news, which now is basically a government news organization, then you’ll be indoctrinated with the progressive message. (“It’s easier to fall back than it is to pull yourself up/forward” (it takes work to find the truth).
Most of the women I know (as well as men) are voting for TRUMP. As a woman, I have a big problem with Hillary. In fact, I can barely stand to look at a photo of her. She has a crazed look in her eyes. Most women I’ve spoken to feel the same way.
In my line of work, I have an opportunity to meet with and talk to many women as well as men. None of them will be voting for Hillary. The article posted here is serving to reinforce the media bias and message towards Hillary and the Progressive movement.
How about the priest who was beheaded in France 2 days ago by an ISIS sympathizer? I saw very little coverage on that. How about the documentary called “Hillary’s America”. How many of you plan on going to view that? Probably not many who’ve read this article and agree with it.
FYI, should you care to look into the truth, the Republican Party is not interested in banning abortion; however, they do want to limit 3rd trimester abortion. Have any of you progressives done any research on 3rd trimester abortions? If you don’t think 3rd trimester abortion is wrong, then you’re lost. However, the progressive movement and Hillary have painted republicans as being 100% for banning ALL abortion. This is not true.
You can quote and reference as many articles and websites as you want . . . you can always find something to substantiate your claims.
How about going to see Hillary’s America . . . it’s in movie theaters now. I dare you.
And please, to the person on this website who always has numerous sources to post and quote, I’m not interested. . . I would suggest finding something more uplifting and edifying to do with your time.

Sherry says
Oh Yes. . . and this from ABC News regarding Trump accepting $150,000 that was to help “SMALL businesses” recover from the 911 tragedy! Give me uplifting and edifying” FACTS” every time!!
Fact Check: Trump Received $150,000 in Sept. 11 Recovery Funds
Claim: Trump received $150,000 in funding intended for small businesses recovering from the Sept. 11 attacks.
Rating: True. A firm owned by Trump, 40 Wall Street LLC, received $150,000 from a Sept. 11 aid package, according to reports.
Background: Rep. Joseph Crowley said of Trump, “He cashed in, collecting $150,000 in federal funds intended to help small businesses recover, even though days after the attack Trump said his properties were not affected.”
In 2006, The New York Daily News reported that 40 Wall Street received $150,000 in funding intended to help small businesses that were affected by the Sept. 11 attacks.
Politicians and reports debate various points about whether the firm qualified for the funding, on the basis of differing definitions of “small business.” The New York Times reported a back-and-forth between Rep. Jerrold Nadler and Trump. Nadler had written an open letter saying Trump’s firm did not deserve the funds, which Nadler said had $26.8 million in annual revenue. “Despite the federal definition of a small business as having less than $6 million in revenue, you accepted a $150,000 payout,” the letter read.
Trump responded, according to the Times, “The company received this small amount of money after qualifying, given the limited number of employees working at the property.”
Despite debates on whether Trump’s company should have taken the money, it is true that his firm received money from the recovery fund.

Sherry, it is pointless showing the facts to these people. They see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe. Fact: Abortion is legal in the United States.
What makes some of you that your beliefs/opnions should take precedence over mine? You think abortion is wrong? Don’t have one. Yu think motherhood is wonderful? Have as many children as you can afford.
Myth: Your taxes paying for abortion. The truth is that Republicans have passed hundreds of laws making obtaining an abortion difficult, even if the woman is paying for it herself. Why? Because politicians think pandering to the extreme right will get them votes. The wealthy have always had access to abortion.
How dare anyone think that forcing a victim of rape or incest should be forced to go through with a pregnancy? Are you so devoid of compassion that you would force a woman to carry her abuser’s child?
Where are the facts to support the Republican theory that women use abortion as birth control?
And those of you who are so strongly anti abortion…how many children have you adopted? How many children of poor families do you help feed and clothe?
This isn’t about politics, it is about humanity. Those of you who profess to have such strong opinions about abortion would be the first ones asking for one if a daughter, sister, spouse had an unwanted pregnancy.

There are 5 people alive on the planet who can attest to what it means to be POTUS. 3 of those are Democrats and all 3 have denounced Trump and endorsed Hillary Clinton. 2 of those are Republican and neither have endorsed Trump.
The best thing that can happen to the GOP is for them to lose the POTUS election, retain the Senate and House, and rebuild the party. Think about that when you go to the polls.

Sherry, I can not believe you think a women’s rights over her own body are “Sacred”. The definition of sacred is: “connected with God or dedicated to a religious purpose and so deserving veneration(sacred rights)”. Abortion is as far from God’s intentions as one can get. When women commit this murderous act of abortion because they cannot control their carnal lust, they and you who promote abortion will stand before God on judgment day for these sins. As I have said before, a woman has the right to keep her legs closed – period!!! She does not have the right to kill an unborn, innocent child!!!
Sherry says
Yes, I do believe a woman’s rights over her own body are “sacred”. Here’s another definition from the Oxford dictionary: “Regarded as too valuable to be interfered with; sacrosanct”.
I certainly do not live my life or form my beliefs from the opinions of religious zealots any more than I do from other disciples of any organization that ever promotes fear and discrimination over brotherly love and peace.
I am quite content and happy with how I conduct myself as an educated, intelligent woman who always supports “open minded” acceptance of the vast diversity of races, cultures, societies AND religious beliefs (or lack there of) in our “Already Great” country and across our glorious planet. I do NOT impose MY religious beliefs on others and I believe passionately in the “separation of church and state”, as many of our founders did.
It would be wonderful if those who are so passionate about “Life” would join in on preserving and enriching lives by requiring “Gun Safety” regulations in addition much stronger support for those women who are raped, abused, subjected to incest, unable to afford birth control, need better education, jobs, food clothing housing, assistance with “dead beat dads”, etc. etc.
Those who again and again repeat the same old simplistic “stupid” phrase about women crossing their legs are disgusting in their ignorance of a woman’s reality and life. . . casting all women as sluts. . . How horrifically “Rush” of you! Where is the insistence on the responsibility of MEN to to STOP having UNPROTECTED sex? Where is the outrage over MEN who accept absolutely NO responsibility for the children they create? Why is the life of a struggling woman/family or child AFTER it is born NOT your concern?
How Very Hypocritical and Judgmental!

Here’s a great example of Republican leaders (Newt Gingrich on CNN) who prefer to make decisions based on “unfounded” feelings and beliefs instead of FACTS from FBI statistics. . . sounds like some who comment on this site. . . “bias over brains”:

Profile of the Sociopath
This website summarizes some of the common features of descriptions of the behavior of sociopaths.
Glibness and Superficial Charm
Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.
Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as “their right.”
Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.
Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.
Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.
Incapacity for Love
Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.
Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others’ feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.
Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.
Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency
Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet “gets by” by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.
Irresponsibility/Unreliability
Not concerned about wrecking others’ lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.
Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.
Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle
Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.
Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility
Changes their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.
Other Related Qualities:
Contemptuous of those who seek to understand them
Does not perceive that anything is wrong with them
Authoritarian
Secretive
Paranoid
Only rarely in difficulty with the law, but seeks out situations where their tyrannical behavior will be tolerated, condoned, or admired

Well now – the long list of characteristics of a sociopath are largely interchangeable with narcissist aren’t they? And they apply equally well to both of the Clintons and to Barrack Obama as well. Furthermore just from the tone of Sherrys comments I think its another bingo. That said it seems as though politics in general attract this personality type and that is a real shame. Frankly I am not sure a person with a normal mental health would WANT to be president. It seems it takes a particularly strong ego. Personally i think people who post constantly on one issue may have a similar personality.
