EGAD! Art Lab in Melbourne, FL will take on a decidedly ‘classic’ look with an exhibition of No Stone Unturned / Photography by Josh Garrick. The work of Josh Garrick, writer, photographer, and fine art curator may be viewed at EGAD! Art Lab from January 20 through February 12, 2012. The opening reception is Friday, January 20. The reception is free and open to the public.

Garrick’s images document the re-construction of the iconic Parthenon in Athens, Greece. Garrick was privileged to be the only American allowed by the Greek Ephorate of Antiquities to photograph this hallowed building from the roof and scaffolding during the re-building. In unique photographs, Garrick captures the city of Athens from the roof of the Parthenon.  Other prints show workmen re-assembling marble fragments, discovered and reclaimed by archaeologists, to be placed back in their original position.  Several of the images are printed with a unique new process in which the image is printed directly onto an aluminum alloy. Traditional print photography will be exhibited as well.

An Art Talk related to the exhibit will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2-4 pm at the EGAD! Art Lab.  Garrick is a professor of Ancient Greek Art and Culture at the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York City. He says, “We owe much of what we are today to the ideas that came from that period of greatness. Several of the most influential geniuses the world has ever known lived in that 100 year period in the town of Athens. It is an honor to speak of them and exhibit photographs to remind us of what man can achieve.” The Art Talk is free, and the public is invited to join Josh Garrick for a discussion about Greek history and his unique photography. Refreshments will be served.

A Dinner with the Artist will be held on the eve of the opening, January 20, 2012 at 5:30 pm, at Concepts on Highland Restaurant in the Historic Eau Gallie Arts District. Dinner prepared by Chef Grant.  Reservations required. Call the EGAD! Art Lab to reserve a place at the table. (321) 258-2119.

EGAD! Art Lab is open Monday through Friday from 10-6pm and Saturday 10-6, and by appointment. All works are available for sale at 407-522-3906.

After showing in Melbourne, No Stone Unturned will move to the Eustis Museum of Art in Lake Eustis, Florida opening on April 13 (6 to 9 pm opening with Artist talk) and run through May 27, 2012.

Garrick’s photography has been shown in one-man exhibits in New York City and throughout Central Florida.  As a teacher at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, Garrick led 15 student groups to Greece for a course titled “The Art & Culture of Ancient Greece.” Garrick’s photographs have appeared in Photo District News, U&lc, and Archaeology magazines, the New York Post, in advertising for Olympic Airways, and on the cover of the New York Gallery Guide.  All of the exhibited works are for sale.

EGAD! Art Lab, located in the Historic Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne, Florida, is curated by Derek Gores. For more info, visit www.EGADartlab.com or call(321) 258-2119.
