Florida Supreme Court Sends Everglades Prison Case to Lower Court

The Florida Supreme Court on Monday sent to a lower court a case filed by Democratic state lawmakers after they were denied entry to a controversial immigrant-detention center in the Everglades dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.”

Rep. Michelle Rayner, D-St. Petersburg, Rep. Anna Eskamani, D-Orlando, Rep.Angie Nixon, D-Jacksonville, Sen. Carlos Guillermo Smith, D-Orlando, and Sen. Shevrin Jones, D-Miami Gardens, filed the case at the Supreme Court last week seeking what is known as a “writ of quo warranto” and arguing that Gov. Ron DeSantis administration’s refusal to grant entry July 3 to the facility violated Florida law.

They asked the Supreme Court to force DeSantis “to provide immediate, unannounced access” to the facility. But the Supreme Court on Monday sent the case to Leon County circuit court. “The transfer of this case should not be construed as an adjudication or comment on the merits of the petition, nor as a determination that the transferee court has jurisdiction or that the petition has been properly titled as a writ of quo warranto,” the Supreme Court order said.

“The transferee court should not interpret the transfer of this case as an indication that it must or should reach the merits of the petition.” Amid the controversy, state lawmakers and members of Congress were allowed to visit the facility on Saturday, though Democrats said the visit was tightly controlled and left unanswered questions.

It’s looking like Trump truly has the Supreme Court in his pocket. All 3 branches of government have abandoned America to a lawless dictator that is taking almost everything from the American people…Medicaid, free speech, due process, education funding, food for kids, national security, DEI, affordability, the right for women to make decisions about their own bodies, etc. Meantime, the cost of living is going up. What the hell are we paying taxes FOR?

So sad the democratic party, the one who has lost more voters in 1 election cycle, keep trying to stop TRUMP! If BIDEN & HARRIS would have done THIER job….We wouldn’t be having this discussion! The failures of the BIDEN administation put TRUMP on the path to success. Americans wanted a change, they wanted THIER country back, from the dreams of a fool! TRUMPS economy is slowly taking shape. The stock market is rising, more Americans are working and people are out shopping for a new homes again. How blind can 1 party be, when they use the same losing playbook on how to beat TRUMP! You see folks, BIDEN was so affraid of TRUMP he didn’t have a clue…. All his lies, about the man…. bashing him at every turn… where did it get him? Now the remainder of the party is hanging on by a thread. They use the same ole tactics, that have never worked in the past, all over again. The American people rejected the Jackass lies! Now as TRUMP cleans up the mess, from a frail old demented man! GAS is down, FOOD is down, employment is up! America is back, from the brink of no return!!!! All due to one man his vision, & love for our country! Thanx MR President.

    @ Dennis Rathsam

I’m not sure if you ever check the Presidential Rankings online, Dennis, but they are conducted annually by approximately 450-500 American historians and political scientists using 10-12 categories and specific accomplishments in the 80’s within those categories. Joe Biden placed 14th best president two years in a row while Donald Trump succeeded in placing 2nd to last and then dead last out of all 46 presidents. Apparently, the historians and political scientists decided that Joe Biden did his job.

I can’t, for the life of me, figure out where Dennis gets his data. Certainly not in the real world. Twice I’ve asked him where he shops, and nothing. Just more claims of grandeur. Everything is perfect in peachyland under the most prolific liar the White House has ever contained. Meanwhile, he and Jimbo will be stuck on Biden for the rest of time.

Oooooh! “Truth Social,” that’s it! Trump *tweets* food is cheaper, and I’m hallucinating in the grocery store! Got it.

Our neighbors live close to Publix, yet drive over the bridge and back to shop at Aldi, where the prices are rising too. Who’s hallucinating? All the rest of us? Sure.

    Logic, please.
