Flagler Schools was recently named as a Distinguished Program by Apple for the Digital Learning Movement in place across all district schools. Representatives from the company were at the last School Board meeting on Jan. 5 to make the announcement.
When determining which schools or programs receive this award, Apple looks at five areas: visionary leadership, innovative learning and teaching, ongoing professional learning and development, compelling evidence of success, and flexible learning environments.
Just a few hundred schools across the country meet these “Five Best Practices” and the number of entire districts meeting them is even less. The Digital Learning Movement was unveiled in July 2013 following the approval of a continuation of a half-penny sales tax by Flagler County voters. All Flagler Schools students in grades 4-12 are issued a MacBook or iPad for 24-hour access to engaging and interactive technology and digital curriculum resources.
Students in grades K-3 also have access to the same technology and resources in their classrooms with shared devices. Flagler County is the first and only county in Florida to offer such comprehensive access to all students. The district is also transforming class space on all campuses into unique learning environments.

What kind of parent let’s their child use computers in school for all their work, seems completely inappropriate. In this digitally corrupt world parents should really think twice. Also think about their eye sight and motor skills, think about the muscles in their hands and their eye hand coordination. Most importantly think about their social interaction.

Hey they know all the latest movies and are really good at playing games.. Cheating got a lot easier too… That helps the graduation rate of course it dont help future employeers.. But those that work got them covered.. No worries
