‘Not For Me To Do,’ DeSantis Says of Congratulating Joe Biden

A day after President Donald Trump lost the Electoral College vote,  Gov. Ron DeSantis suggested Tuesday, without evidence, that the exit of his close political ally from the White House could affect Florida on issues such as the coronavirus pandemic.

“The president has been one hell of an ally for this state. I can tell you that,” DeSantis said after a state Cabinet meeting. “It’s funny, because these hospitals — we’ve really supported them. If they needed something, we got it to them. I was like, ‘Well, I may not be a phone call away from getting everything done soon (after Trump leaves office).’ So, it’s unfortunate, I think, for Florida.”

DeSantis spoke as Florida went past 20,000 Covid-19 deaths, including 38 people 24 or younger, and on a day the state recorded 9,439 new cases of coronavirus infections, in a week averaging around 10,000 cases per day. A cumulative 1.1 million Floridians have been infected so far, including 3,076 in Flagler, where 46 residents have died of the disease.

Florida’s 29 electors cast ballots Monday for Trump because he won the state in the Nov. 3 election, but Democratic President-elect Joe Biden won the national electoral vote. With Trump continuing to contest the results of last month’s election, DeSantis was asked Tuesday whether he would congratulate Biden. “It’s not for me to do,” DeSantis said.

“Here’s what I would say. We did our thing in Florida and the Electoral College voted. What’s going to happen is going to happen. I can tell you that I think a lot of the frustration for folks that supported the president was that we were four years with people not accepting him.” But Florida Agriculture Commissioner

Nikki Fried, the only statewide elected Democrat, said Florida leaders need to work with Biden to ensure the needs of the state are met. “Joe Biden is the president-elect. Joe Biden will be the president of the United States,” Fried said.. “It is time for those who are questioning the legitimacy of this election to move on and start working with a Biden administration.”

That’s a pretty old picture of DeSantis you’ve dredged up to run with this story, obviously chosen because of the expression on his face. Flagler Live is usually above that sort of thing. Just sayin’.

Hey, Ron, not for you to do? Don’t think you can be effective with a new administration? This is why your political career is over.
Start packing. 2022 is right around the corner.

The lack of leadership from DeSantis has been a major problem in fighting the COVID-19.
    He should take responsibility.
Not to late to change course.
I want both vaccine shots as recommended by Pfizer.

So DeSantis acknowledges he can only work with Trump pulling the strings? How pathetic. He needs to start governing, too bad he didn’t manage this pandemic with reality, we would have fewer deaths and less to deal with now. President Biden will work with all Americans. DeSantis should try it as he is supposed to represent ALL Floridians.

So tell me once again exactly why our leaders should be working with Joe Biden once he becomes president as he is an illegitimate president just like what all of the Democrats claimed about President Trump? What a bunch of hypocrites! Biden will never get to experience exactly what Trump had to deal with for over 4 years of his presidency because of Big Tech, Social Media and the MSM will NOT dog Biden like they have done to Trump.

The Biden regime should get the same exact treatment the trump administration did his whole 4 years.Biden has many many times in his past made many racist comments, including about his own Obama and has done NOTHING in his ENTIRE political career.Even socialist commie Kamala called him a racistI’m expecting about the same treatment as president Trump got through his term

Mr. DeSantis’ boot licking is repulsive.

  11. Steve Robinson says

I’m actually glad that Trump won Florida, because I am convinced that spineless DeSantis would have been actively on the side of the Trump fabulists in calling the election rigged. And that would have been a real nightmare for democracy.

  12. Billy C says

    December 16, 2020 at 1:51 am

It was because from day one it was apparent that Trump was incompetent. After four yours you still fail to understand that? DeSantis is equally unfit to serve and will go the way of his idol, The Don. Into the garbage heap of history.

  13. Eva says

    December 16, 2020 at 8:21 am

That would be correct, as President Biden will NEVER undermine democracy, lie every single time his mouth opens, or remain MUTE on national emergencies unless it suits him manic need for attention. Consider some reality, please. Our leaders should be working with President Biden under their OATH of OFFICE, it is not about party, it is about AMERICANS and doing what is best for all.

  14. Terrance Bryant says

“MiniTrump” said he takes no responsibility for what’s happened in Florida. Just be sure to spend your money while you visit. 2 more years Ron.

  15. John Stove says

    December 17, 2020 at 8:29 am

Hey Richard…..Trump was a dumpster fire from Day 1. When you become President, your life (regardless of party) will be 100% scrutinized, analyzed and discussed. The problem with Dumbo is that he thought he could bully his way thru his term by lying, coming up with “alternative facts” and instructing his departments to ignore any request for information causing people to file Freedom of Information lawsuits.

We most likely will never know how many cons he participated in but after January 20th, as a private citizen, he is going to get sued (and will lose) because the man is a pathological liar .

The WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES period.

  16. John Stove says

    December 17, 2020 at 8:32 am

Gee…..still upset that Dumbo lost are we? What was it that Republicans said to Democrats after the 2016 election?…….on yeah; “get over it snowflake”

  17. deb says

    December 20, 2020 at 10:13 am

Yep time to move on, its a done deal. Trumpers can cry all they want, just like Hillary supporters did, but its done. Our butt smacking governor will get his due diligence at his re-election.

  18. Steve says

    December 20, 2020 at 7:36 pm

So I think its unfortunate for We the People in Florida that we have lil Ronnie as Governor. He takes his lead from our Ex Former POTUS. Yeah that guy He hasnt the Class or strength as a Leader to take the initiative as an Elected Official ,set the tone so to speak, to congratulate President Elect Biden. You see folks Ron is a loser and will experience that losing feeling in 2022 as the residents of this State eliminate the rest of the scum in the Swamp. The only place Ron knows is bowing down to those who tell him what to do and say and when like a good loyal puppet boy. Damn the folks he allegedly represents. His lack of response to C19 continual denial and suppression of the facts should be his Political kiss of death. IMO Vote Accordingly

Wow, What happened? DeSantis won convincingly 2022. I hope you don’t give stock advice or perform any task involving intelligence.
