2 Men Complain of Cold Burgers at McDonald’s, Brandish Guns, and End Up Facing Felonies

September 9, 2019 | FlaglerLive | 28 Comments

Jawan Davis, left, and Jordon Dunn.

It was around half past midnight this morning at the McDonald’s on Belle Terre Parkway and Palm Coast Parkway. A gray car pulled up to the second drive-thru window. Jawan Davis was driving. Jordon Dunn was a passenger. They’re both 20, both from St. Augustine though Dunn was in the R Section the previous evening when Davis picked him up.

Tyrone, 24, and Oleg, 27, were working the night shift at the restaurant. (Their last names are withheld.) Davis and Dunn had placed and picked up an order. As Tyrone described it to Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies, the two men then asked Tyrone that their order be remade. They pulled out two pistols in “a threatening manner,” according to the employee’s statement to police. They told him they “do not play” when it comes to their food.

Deputies would later locate a black and silver BB gun in plain view in the front passenger floorboard, and a black Springfield XP5 handgun on the back driver’s side floor board.

Tyrone told the men he’d remake the food. He went to the restaurant office and spoke to Oleg, telling her about the two men at the window. They called 911.

When deputies arrived, the 2014 gray Ford car Dunn and Davis were riding in was the only one in the drive thru. They pulled over the men and secured them.

Dunn spoke willingly to deputies, saying Davis picked him up from his girlfriend’s house in the R Section before they went to the restaurant–and ordered five burgers. When Tyrone brought out the food, Davis didn’t want it because it was cold, and got mad. But Dunn claimed the two were just joking around when they started “tossing and talking about their BB guns,” according to their arrest reports.

Davis told deputies that he borrowed the car from someone else, who told him that one gun was under the front driver seat, unloaded. But he drove the vehicle all night with the gun. He claims to have removed it from under the seat after the argument with Tyrone.

Roger’s towing towed the car to its yard in Bunnell. Dunn and Davis were arrested and charged: Davis with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft of a firearm and driving without a license (two felonies and misdemeanor), Dunn with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony, and possession of pot, a misdemeanor. They were being held on no bond.

“This is a story that could have had a very different outcome,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “This employee kept his cool and did the right thing by calling us. Thanks to his actions and the quick response from our deputies, no one was injured. These guys were driving around looking for trouble and they got it. Now,” the sheriff continued, using his favorite moniker for the county jail, “they can enjoy the food served at the Green Roof Inn.”

(Oleg tried to access the cameras through the monitoring system but  was unable to do so at the time of the initial investigation. The footage was to be made available to detectives later.)

Needless to say they will be out with no prison time and a slap on their hands telling them not to behave this way so they can go right out and do it again which will be a more violent crime using real guns. That’s the message these criminals will get once they are through the Flagler Court System.

When are fast food places going to finally close at night and protect their employees from garbage like this? There is just no excuse. This had nothing to do with the burger being cold. They were looking for trouble.

They can “play with their food” in lock up now. Unfortunately this type of human garbage is going to become more and more prevalent hiding under the guise of oppression, racism and whatever other name they can try to apply to make excuses for this animalistic behavior.

Just reading the title, I was almost sure this was going to be the McDonald’s in the Target shopping center as that poor place is the all time worst when it comes to fast and correct food. On a side note, glad the bad guys were caught.

  15. Downtown says

    September 9, 2019 at 6:13 pm

Well this McDonald location is the worse McDonald’s I have ever used.Lunch time isn’t bad but in the evenings find somewhere else to go. Orders are frequently wrong, the sandwiches thrown together, wait times for simple orders is excessive and yes many times the food is cold. I hate this location and will drive to one of the other locations just to avoid this store in the evenings.

  16. Mary Fusco says

Sadly, these are not “young men and women”. They are going to spend the rest of their life doing this and their families will spend the rest of their life protesting. It’s the new American way.

    Stupidity pole…
    Which is more stupid?
    A) The actions of the individuals arrested.
    B) The comments of the Sheriff.
    C) The comments of the readers of this article.
    D) All the above…

The same thing happened to me once. I ordered 5 cheeseburgers and the cheese was cold on every burger but the car I had barrowed from somebody didn’t have a gun under the front seat so I just ate them.

As a McDonald’s employee, I have to say that it may not always be our fault. Some customers can’t remember their order even when the receipt is right in front of them and the order was repeated multiple times by us. If you have never worked in fast food then I suggest you keep your mouth shut and your opinions to yourself because you have no idea what it’s like. Its literally Hell on earth. So please go to a different establishment, cool with me. Btw I work at the McDonalds on old kings

What if the judge says “you deserve a break today” to the gun-toting youths?
Will they get up and get away to terrorize another McDonald’s?
“I’m not loving it.” –New slogan idea…
