The health overhaul bill passed by the House earlier this month accomplishes one major feat: It is even less popular than the not-very-popular Affordable Care Act it would largely replace, a new poll finds.
According to the monthly tracking poll from the Kaiser Family Foundation, 49 percent of respondents said they have a favorable view of the ACA, while 31 percent said they favored the GOP’s American Health Care Act, which narrowly passed the House on May 4. (Kaiser Health News is an editorially independent program of the foundation.)
But in a mirror image of the ACA’s standing with the public, more than two-thirds of Republicans said they support their party’s health plan. Even more Democrats (78 percent) favored Obamacare.
The findings track those of other polls conducted since the Republican House passed the bill. A Quinnipiac University poll released May 25 found 20 percent of Americans support the AHCA, compared with 57 percent opposition. A poll from Morning Consult and Politico just after the bill passed found 38 percent supported the GOP measure and 44 percent opposed it.
Unlikely to boost the bill’s popularity is a report last week from the Congressional Budget Office that found after 10 years the legislation would result in 23 million fewer Americans with insurance and could make it harder for those with preexisting conditions to get and keep coverage.
Indeed, the KFF poll found that even Republicans show scant support for a change to some of the health law’s most popular provisions. Fewer than a fifth of Republicans favored changing the provision that limits how much more insurers can charge older people for insurance compared with younger people. And 22 percent of Republicans favored letting insurers charge sick people higher premiums if they have a break in their coverage.
A majority of Republicans supported the bill’s provisions that would allow states to establish work requirements for Medicaid enrollees and set up high-risk insurance pools for people with health problems.
More people said the GOP bill would hurt their personal health care than thought the same about a straight repeal of the ACA when asked about that issue in December.
Forty-five percent said the GOP bill would increase their own and their family’s costs for health care, compared with the December survey that found 28 percent thought that would be the result if the ACA were repealed. More than a third thought the GOP bill would make it harder to get and keep health insurance, compared with 21 percent who thought a repeal would have that consequence. And 34 percent said the GOP bill would likely make the quality of their health care worse, compared with 19 percent who said that about the ACA repeal.
Although about half of the public wants changes in the bill, nearly three-quarters of those surveyed said it was very or somewhat likely that Congress will pass and President Donald Trump will sign a bill to “repeal and replace” the ACA.
The survey of 1,205 adults, conducted May 16-22, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points for the full sample.

I am yet to find anyone that agrees that Obummercare should stay or believe any of those childish polls as well. IF anything needs to be changed is the fact that those who are jobless and have NO income and cannot afford the slumcare currently provided, should NOT be fined for being in such a predicament. You cannot get blood from a turnip. Remove the fines levied against those who cannot afford health insurance. IT SHOULD BE A CHOICE and NOT FORCED UPON US! Hospitals and medical staff are getting richer while we are getting poorer!! Stop Obummercare and you will see people who need help, getting the help they need instead of waiting in long lines waiting for people waiting for BS help! Our medical facilities are being clogged with nonsense now!!! Get rid of Obummercare and the hospital facilitiy construction will slowly come to a halt! We have enough medical facilities!! The more they build, the higher our medical bills will rise because WE are paying for it!!!!! Soon we will have more hospitals than we do gas stations!! We need to stop the wealthy medical staff from stealing our money and start giving the right help they should be giving!!!

I did the math. That also happens to be my career (“doing the math”). A survey of just over 1000 people gives a margin of error of roughly +-3% at the 95% confidence level. This roughly means that if the difference between two options is more than 6% in a survey, you can be fairly sure the results reflect the actual population preference.
I invite you to also do the math … literally. Calculate the margin of error for this survey.

The bottom line for Republicans here is that they don’t want to pay anything to help those less fortunate have decent medical care. The issue is not “Obamacare (aka the Affordable Care Act). The issue is that Republicans simply don’t care, whether it’s Trumpcare or Obamacare or any other care. Trumpcare promises to cut health care benefits for women of all ages, the sick, the poor, and the elderly. And that’s fine with most Republicans. If you can’t pay your own way, you die in Trump’s America. Bad on you.

My assumption is out of the 1205 persons polled, 1200 of them currently participate in some form of government entitlement program! Those polled should only be persons working and footing the bill for the ones who benefit from Obamacare! Remember – teach a man to fish and he will eat for life…. Well – teach a person to work and the will have health insurance for life!!!!

Fla Voter I did the math, still a poll with 1205 polled with NO explanation on the demographics makes this poll inaccurate. Was the poll in the north, the south, east , west, mid west etc,, or was it perhaps in some suburb of Washington DC who knows. There is no confidence level. Give me a poll of 20K plus all across the US and then we might have something,. I’m not saying the poll is not telling a story it just doesn’t have enough data to make the story realistic or believable..
I think Obamacare did what it was supposed to do, at least provided people with the ability to have health insurance. Was it perfect, hell nothing is perfect in this country. . And then you have Trumpy, well he doesn’t understand why he is in office in the first place much less trying to understand how to fix healthcare so its acceptable those in that 321 million number that might desire an affordable healthcare plan..
Everyone wants free healthcare, that’s the big push to have the govt provide free healthcare, but like in Great Britain, its free but paid for by general taxation. Canada’s system is like medicare but you still need to pay for your dental and prescriptions unless you have secondary insurance. So the end user is still going to pay out in some form to have everything health related 100% free. We might never get there.
