Flagler Beach Rotary Hosting Wing-Themed 5K Race on Feb. 11

January 25, 2012 | FlaglerLive | 1 Comment

The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach is hosting the 5k Race of the Runways at the Flagler County Airport, Saturday, Feb. 11, starting at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $20 pre-registration, online until 10:00 PM, Thursday, February 9, 2012. Pre-flight check-in to pick-up participation packets or pre-register is February 10, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. at High Jackers Restaurant at the Airport. $25 registration the day of event (cash or check only), beginning at 7 a.m. at the Airport. Goodie bags and t-shirts for first 250 paid registrations. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in the male and female age groups, 5-year categories, as well as Best Male and Female Overall, Masters Male and Masters Female (over 40).

This is an aeronautical themed event to include helicopters, flyovers, resident planes on display as well as a peek at innovative projects currently underway at the airport. The event is organized with special assistance from Roy Seiger, director of the Flagler County Airport, in this first-time Rotary Club of Flagler Beach “5k Race of the Runways” event.

The funds raised from this event, which is co-sponsored by the Palm Coast Observer and is part of the Palm Coast Race Series, help support the Rotary Club of Flagler Beach projects. Some of these include: scholarships for adults and students, Project Share, which provides holiday gifts for needy families and dictionaries for every 3rd grade child, the support of an orphanage and mobile mammography unit in Paraguay, the Youth Leadership Academy, world-wide polio eradication and the Youth Exchange Program.

For registration and complete information, please visit the Flagler Beach Rotary’s website.
