An earlier story based on a  Flagler County Sheriff’s report of the drowning of a 39-year-old vacationer from South Florida was incorrect: the woman, Holly G. Weizer, who had no pulse and was not breathing, according to the incident report, was revived at Florida Hospital Flagler, where she remains in serious condition.
The incident took place Saturday (July 19). Holly G. Weizer and her friend Loren Beron, along with six children, had just arrived in Palm Coast for a week-long vacation. Weizer had rented the roomy, 3,500-square foot house at 554 Cinnamon Beach Lane, bordering a large pond and a stone’s throw from the shore. One of the house’s attractions, besides its location, is its screen-enclosed pool and deck.
Late Saturday night, Weizer, 39, of Jupiter, 200 miles south of Palm Coast, some of the children found her under water. Her teen-age son, who had earlier in the evening urged her to come out of the pool, attempted to perform CPR on her.
Beron, 40, of Delray Beach, told a Flagler County Sheriff’s deputy that she, Weizer and the children had arrived hours earlier for their vacation from South Florida. Once at the house on Cinnamon Beach Lane, Beron went to the grocery store, then, after returning, went swimming with Weizer. The pair were in and out of the pool throughout the evening, Beron told deputies, until Beron decided to dry off for the evening and left the pool deck.
Weizer remained in the pool. Beron said her friend did not have any medical issues and was not experiencing any problems that evening. The two had drunk alcohol in the evening, Beron told deputies, but Weizer, she said, did not drink an excessive amount, according to the deputies’ report on the incident, which was marked “Drowning/Water Injury.”
Beron was in the house upstairs when she heard children screaming. She rushed downstairs. She saw Weizer
“unresponsive.”
Weizer’s 15-year-old son told a deputy he was concerned about her condition earlier in the evening.
Weizer’s son went inside and played video games with his friend when, “moments later,” the incident report goes on, “he heard screaming from the pool area.” When he went outside, he saw his mother submerged in the pool. She appeared to be “sitting underwater near the steps to enter and exit the pool.” Weizer’s son jumped in, brought out his mother with his friend’s help, found her unconscious and unresponsive, and began CPR while sending out one of the children to get help from a neighbor.
That was Ronald Blevins, a 44-year-old  from Mansfield, Ohio, who rushed to help until paramedics arrived, as did Peter Hanley, a 50-year-old resident of Palm Coast, and a security guard familiar with CPR. But when the men arrived there and found Weizer on the floor of the pool deck, she was not breathing and had no pulse.
By then it was just past 10 p.m. Flagler County sheriff’s deputies had just been dispatched to the house  on Cinnamon Beach Lane.
Weizer was transported by ambulance to Florida Hospital Flagler. “The area of the pool was checked and nothing appeared unusual,” a deputy reported.
Deputies contacted the children’s grandmother by phone and stayed at the house until a close family friend arrived at 2:30 the following morning. Monday evening, Lisa Schneider, an attorney representing Weizer, said, “she’s in the hospital and in serious condition.”
