Dwight Lanfair, a 47-year-old resident at the Madison Green apartments in Palm Coast, was arrested on an armed robbery charge, a first-degree felony, following a robbery Friday evening at the State Road 100 Burger King, where he is believed to have been an employee.
The Burger King robbery took place shortly after a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver was robbed at 10:30 that evening, about an hour before the Burger King robbery. The delivery driver was robbed behind the Flagler Plaza shopping center. Lanfair has not been charged with that robbery, but he’s being held without bail at the Flagler County jail. He does not have a previous arrest record in the county, according to clerk of courts records.
The suspect in the Burger King robbery entered the restaurant from the back door, dressed all in black and wearing a hoodie and what the manager would describe as a mask to conceal his identity, according to an arrest report. He then ordered employee Victor Dove, 23, up against the ice cooler and ordered him to call the manager to come to the back of the restaurant. When she did so, he ordered her to put money in a paper bag. Twice such bags ripped as the manager was putting money in them, so she ended up using a garbage can for the money. That done, Lanfair allegedly took the money and ran out the back door.
Dove told the manager to call 911, then himself left the restaurant: he was fearful that cops would arrest him because of a probation violation issue in St. Johns County, where he’d been found guilty of credit card fraud.
Deputies had swarmed to the scene nearby earlier in response to the Domino’s robbery, along with a K-9. As soon as the Burger King robbery was called into 911, some of them went to the Burger King restaurant—and one of them, arriving within a minute of the 911 call, saw Dove leaving the restaurant, wearing a hoodie and walking toward I-95. The robbery suspect had been described as wearing a hoodie.
The deputy activated police lights, un-holstered his gun and ordered Dove to the ground. Dove, a resident of Kathleen Trail in Palm Coast, complied, but was shaken from the robbery—and now the arrest. He was not able to provide more of a description about the alleged robber than that he woke a black mask and held an unknown object. No one had seen the alleged robber hold a gun. Dove said he had briefly blacked out during the robbery. His “emotions,” his arrest report states, “were highly upset and agitated and he continued to state that he had nothing to do with the robbery.”
He was placed under arrest on an out of county warrant. Meanwhile, deputies found Lanfair sitting on a bicycle in the parking lot of Burger King. He was wearing a reflective vest, blue shirt and shorts, according to a release issued by the sheriff’s office. He carried a backpack that he agreed to let deputies search. The backpack contained cash, black clothing and a mask that matched the description of a mask worn in both robberies.
He was arrested and charged with armed robbery.
The investigation is continuing. If you have any information about either of these crimes or any crime that may have occurred in Flagler County, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-8477. You can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
In an unrelated incident on Sunday, the last day of Bike Week, two men were arrested in an attempted carjacking of a motorcyclist on U.S. 1.
Anthony Camacho and his passenger, a woman, flagged down a deputy just before 1 a.m. and claimed that two men in a white Mustang convertible had attempted to take their motorcycle. He was at the Mobil 6 station on U.S. 1 when the two men pulled up in the convertible and yelled at him, “yo yo give me your bike,” according to an arrest report.
Camacho and his passenger got scared and immediately sped off, going north on U.S. 1. The Mustang, Camacho said, spun its tires and set chase, but soon Camacho spotted a Flagler County Sheriff’s deputy and reported the incident. Camacho then resumed his ride north, only to see the Mustang again following him, so he turned around and went back to the deputy. By then the Mustang had apparently pulled in to Scary Mary’s parking lot, where the deputy found the men matching the description provided by Camacho.
Frank Lawson, 29, of Sarasota, and Roy Lee Wood, 24, of Bradenton, denied involvement in the incident. They said all they did at the gas station was ask a man for directions. When a deputy asked Lawson if he’d yelled at a man on his bike to give him the motorcycle, Lawson said he didn’t even know how to ride a motorcycle.
The deputy, however, informed Lawson that his driver’s license indicated he had his “motorcycle endorsement,” according to his arrest report, “and that in order to gtet that you have to know how to operate a motorcycle.”
The two men were arrested on a carjacking charge, and Wood was also charged with possession of oxycodone. Both posted bail, Wood on $17,500 bond and Lawson on $15,000 bond.

Is Dwight Lanfair paying market rent, or section 8 subsidized rent? I would like to see section 8 applied to disabled and elderly tenants only.
