President Barack Obama will travel to Orlando on Thursday to meet with families of victims of the worst mass shooting in the nation’s history. An announcement Wednesday from the White House did not provide a detailed schedule for the visit but said Obama will meet with families and “stand in solidarity with the Orlando community.” The visit comes after St. Lucie County resident Omar Mateen went to the Pulse nightclub early Sunday morning and killed 49 people and wounded of dozens of others before he was shot dead by police. Obama and Gov. Rick Scott spoke by phone Wednesday.–News Service of Florida
