An Obituary

Our Dear One – Gregory Charles Jelm (May 11, 1960 – June 4, 2020) – passed away peacefully from cancer at his home, in the company of his loved ones. He was proceeded in the death by his Mother, Claudine Jelm.

A lifelong Floridian and local craftsman, Greg had a passion for restoration. Greg was a devoted and loving Husband, Father, Poppa, Brother, Uncle and a friend to all.

He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed camping, boating and especially fishing on Dunn’s Creek. He treasured children and dogs.

Greg was a dramatic storyteller and could weave the fabric of a tale, leaving any listener enthralled. He was an incredibly kind, gentle and generous soul who endeavored to help his fellow man.

If you choose to honor Greg, kindly make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, TBD

Asking tough questions is increasingly met with hostility. The political climate—nationally and right here in Flagler County—is at war with fearless reporting. Officials and powerbrokers often prefer echo chambers to accountability. They want news that flatters, not news that informs. They want stenographers. We give them journalism. You know by now, after 16 years, that FlaglerLive won’t be intimidated. We dig. We don't sanitize to pander or please. We report reality, no matter who it upsets. Even you. But standing up to this kind of pressure requires resources. We need a community that values courage over comfort. Stand with us, and help us hold the line. Fund the journalism they don't want you to read. No paywall. But it's not free. Take a moment, become a champion of enlightening journalism. Any amount helps. Poppa words will never explain the pain and emptiness I feel in my heart since God took the best the day he called you home and gave you wings.
A golden heart stopped beating today…hard working hands to rest… God showed us all… He only takes the BEST!
Till we meet again, I know this ain’t how it ends as long as we always keep FAITH in HIM.
