Raymond Miller, the 77-year-old Palm Coast resident who crashed his plane in Pellicer Creek last week, had retired from the CIA but had never ended a life of globe-trotting adventure in which his age was a mere number. His family said his last flight was a fitting way to end a life.

Embry-Riddle Training Plane’s Door Crashes to Pavement at 16 College Court in Palm Coast

A canopy door from a two-engine plane belonging to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University came undone during a training run over Palm Coast’s C-Section around 4:30 p.m. Thursday and fell to earth, slamming the pavement within yards of several houses around a cul-de-sac. No one was injured on the ground, and the pilot and trainee aboard the plane made it safely back to the Flagler County Airport.

Red Flare, Parachute and Feared Plane Crash Keep Police Busy Overnight in Mondex, But Nothing is Found

Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies and Volusia County’s emergency helicopters patrolled western Flagler County, especially the Mondex area, after reported sightings of a parachute and a red flare after 10 p.m. Tuesday. Nothing was located.
