How does THC relates to CBD?

Despite both being cannabinoids, CBD and THC interact with slightly different receptors in a person’s brain. As a result, CBD is unlikely to get an individual high. On the other hand, THC produces the high people associate with using marijuana recreationally. Today, the therapeutic properties of CBD are being tested and confirmed by scientists and doctors around the world.

Following this definition, we sell CBD pre-rolls and CBD pre-rolled joints including high CBD pre-rolls and CBD flower pre-rolls. CBD pre-rolls are simply pre-rolled “joints” made with CBD flower instead of cannabis strains that contain THC.

If you feel like going to the Moon and back, delve into our moon rockets pre-rolls and moon rock pre-rolls, with varying degrees of THC percentages depending on what you feel like entertaining.

Smart bud pre-rolls are the friendliest of the lot, with more CBD as compared to THC. Designed to calm your body and relax your mind without letting you disassociate from the present. Smart bud pre-rolls are cheap, discreet, disposable, and easily shared among friends. They are not hefty on the pocket.

CBD tea is a great way to get your daily dose of cannabidiol in a relaxing beverage. You can brew CBD tea using CBD buds, ready-made tea bags, tinctures, and more. Tea is an aromatic beverage with a long, rich history. The word “tea” can also be used to describe brews made from a wide range of herbs and other botanical species, including CBD-rich cannabis. This is precisely the reason why tea is such an effective and pleasant way to dose CBD. What Is CBD? CBD is one of the many cannabinoid compounds derived from the cannabis plant. This unique family of chemicals is (mostly) exclusive to cannabis, and is capable of producing numerous physiological outcomes once consumed. While the psychotropic cannabinoid THC is famous for the high it induces, CBD has no such side effects. Yet, it does have the potential to subtly influence the mind and body. CBD has been studied somewhat extensively, and the body of scientific literature points towards intriguing outcomes both in vitro (in a petri dish) and in vivo (in a living organism). Research on the matter is yet inconclusive, but it certainly is encouraging. How CBD Works: The Endocannabinoid System CBD affects the body in various ways, including via the endocannabinoid system. This regulatory network is made up of a series of receptors found on many different cell types in/on the body. Authors of a paper published in the journal Pharmacological Reviews state that the endocannabinoid system holds promise for a wide range of disparate diseases and pathological conditions, and displays regulatory functions in both health and disease. Benefits of CBD Tea Tea is a simple and enjoyable way to administer CBD, and it may be an ideal choice for those who are not keen on smoking or vaping. Can Help You Achieve a Good Night’s Rest The relaxing properties of CBD are scientifically supported. In a clinical study published in 2019[2], a group of 72 adults who reported being restless and/or having poor sleep were administered CBD. Within the first month, sleep scores improved for 48 patients (66.7%) in the study. The relaxing effect of drinking CBD tea before bedtime can be further enhanced by adding chamomile, peppermint, valerian, or melatonin to the brew. Supports Healthy Skin Cannabinoids including CBD have been shown to display powerful antioxidant properties[3]. As such, CBD may help in fighting free radicals—molecules that damage cellular structures, leading to wrinkles and other early signs of ageing. Green tea and black tea by themselves are rich in antioxidants called flavonoids (which cannabis also contains). Thus, regularly drinking tea infused with CBD may be particularly effective in maintaining a radiant and youthful complexion. Could Help With an Upset Stomach CBD may also help if one is feeling queasy. A paper published in the British Journal of Pharmacology suggests that manipulation of the endocannabinoid system could help due to indirect activation of serotonin receptors. Helps You Wind Down CBD is reported to have a relaxing effect. This makes CBD tea a perfect brew to wind down with at the end of a long day. Indeed, the soothing effect of CBD on the nerves has been the subject of extensive research, and has even made the cannabinoid a potential future alternative to traditional pharmaceuticals. Types of CBD Tea There are various ways to prepare CBD tea to your liking. One of the easiest methods is to just brew some ground buds or leaves of a CBD-rich strain using a tea infuser, quite like preparing any other herbal tea. Keep in mind, however, that you'll need sufficiently more leaves than you would buds to brew a comparably strong tea. CBD buds can also be blended in with other types of tea, i.e. green, black, or herbal tea, to harness the best qualities of both. In addition to plant material (CBD or hemp flower), or ready-made CBD tea bags, CBD tinctures and other products can also be used to infuse your brew with CBD. Common CBD oils, however, are not optimal for tea preparation as water and oil don’t mix, and thus the beneficial compounds won’t be equally distributed in the brew. High CBD Strains ACDC This is another 14 percent CBD strain preferred by people looking to relieve stress, anxiety, and pain without feeling stoned. It contains no relevant amount of THC. The two most common words used to describe its effects are “relaxed” and “happy,” according to reviews on Leafly. Lifter Lifter is a newer player in the cannabis game. It averages around 16 percent CBD with next to no THC. Its aroma is described as “funky cheese with a hint of fuel” (weird flex, but OK). It’s uber-relaxing effects won’t put a damper on your focus or function. Cherry Wine If you like the smell of wine and cheese, Cherry Wine’s your strain. It averages around 17 percent CBD with less than 1 percent THC. According to user reviews, it relaxes your brain and muscles without mind-altering effects. Sour Space Candy This high-CBD strain has some sour notes as far as aroma, but it gets props from people who use it to relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression. Sour Space Candy has an average of 17 percent CBD and only a trace amount of THC. Cherry Blossom This high-CBD strain is packed with cherry and berry flavors. It has a powerfully relaxing and mood-boosting effect. ... This strain has a lovely sweet and floral aroma with cherry and berry flavors. A touch Caryophyllene gives Cherry Blossom a bit of heat on the lips and in the nose when smoked. Cherry Blossom has an average of 15 percent CBD and only trace amount of THC. Making and Consuming CBD Tea: What You Need to Know The beauty of CBD tea isn’t just in the previously mentioned potential benefits. We also like how it can be prepared in myriad ways: Simply add CBD to your tea of choice, from black, green, and red tea to hibiscus, yerba mate, and everything in between! In addition, one can enjoy CBD tea both hot and cold, either as a relaxing warmer-upper during the cold season, or as a refreshing cool drink during the hot summer months! The thing is, cannabinoids don’t really absorb well in water like the compounds in traditional tea do. Said differently, although you can brew your CBD tea that way, the result will be less potent. Cannabinoids dissolve much better into fatty sources. This is why cannabutter and cannabis coconut oil are so popular. They provide a fatty base that adequately absorbs the cannabinoids, and are super easy to add to a wide range of food and drinks. Cannabutter can be added to tea to make a more calorically dense beverage that contains good levels of CBD. A more effective and convenient option is to use several drops of a high-strength CBD tincture to an already-prepared tea, allowing for accurate and efficient dosing. Taking Advantage of the Entourage Effect Different terpenes (aromatic compounds found in cannabis and other plants) can enhance some of the therapeutic actions of CBD. The so-called entourage effect[6] suggests that cannabinoids and terpenes work in synergy to create more profound effects. For example, the terpenes limonene and linalool, found in many plants and fruits, are synergistic with CBD in terms of its relaxing, soothing effects. How to Mix Your CBD With Tea Directly with water You can brew CBD-rich cannabis or hemp flower by itself like ordinary tea. Alternatively, you can add weed to your favourite tea mix. This works to some degree, but isn’t too effective at extracting all the beneficial compounds. CBD dissolved in butter or fat Just add a teaspoon of cannabutter to your cup, add a tea bag of your choosing, and brew your tea. Let the cannabutter fully dissolve, allow to steep for a few minutes, then remove the tea bag. Add milk, honey, or sugar to taste. CBD tincture Simply add several drops of CBD tincture to hot water or tea. Alcohol-based CBD tinctures work best, but CBD oils can also work if you stir your brew a few times while drinking. Two Easy CBD Tea Recipes Here are two great CBD tea recipes. The first recipe involves making tea using cannabis/hemp flower and a tea bag or strainer. The second recipe is for making CBD tea with CBD tincture. A Note on Dosing In terms of how concentrated with CBD your tea should be, this will vary based on your experience with CBD and your preferences. Most people will aim for between 5–50mg of CBD per cup, with 10–25mg being a good middle-ground. How many drops of tincture, or how much CBD bud/cannabutter, to use will vary based on the CBD concentration of a given product. Recipe: CBD Tea Made With CBD-Rich Cannabis Ingredients 1 tea bag CBD tea (ready-made or ground CBD flower mixed with tea) 1 tablespoon honey 1 lemon peel 1 cinnamon stick 1 cup hot water Optional cream, sugar, honey to taste Instructions Add the honey, cinnamon stick, and lemon into a mug. Place the ready-made tea bag into the mug. Alternatively, grind up some CBD flower and add to your favourite tea, then put the mix into a tea infuser or back in the tea bag, and place into your mug. Fill with hot—not boiling—water. Let steep for 3–5 minutes. The recommended steeping time will vary according to the type of tea you’re using. Remove the tea bag or strainer. Add cream, sugar, or honey to taste; stir. Serve and enjoy! Tips Don’t cold-brew your CBD tea! Heat is required to activate the beneficial compounds in cannabis. After brewing, however, you can indeed chill your tea if you want to enjoy a refreshing cool beverage! You don’t technically have to mix your CBD flower with some other type of tea. You can also brew it by itself. For many, however, the taste is a bit too “grassy”, and benefits from some extra flavour nuance. It really comes down to your personal preference. If you’re looking to avoid getting high, make sure you use suitable CBD strains that have no or only trace amounts of THC. Cannabis tea made from ordinary marijuana will get you very high! Recipe: CBD Tea Made With CBD Tincture CBD tincture is perhaps the easiest way to add cannabis or hemp to your tea. Just add a few drops of CBD tincture after brewing, and that’s it! You can also use CBD oil if that’s what you have available, although it will require regular stirring. Ingredients 1 cup water CBD tincture Loose tea leaves (black, green, herbal, etc.) I nstructions Pour your water into a pot. Heat over medium-high and bring water to a boil. Once the water is boiling, remove the pot from the heat. Place the tea leaves into the pot and cover with a lid. Allow to steep for about 5 minutes. Strain tea leaves. Add the CBD tincture and stir. Wait a few minutes. Serve and enjoy! Lots of Variety to Explore Don’t like the taste quite yet? There are many herbs you can choose from to use as a base for your CBD tea. Likewise, don’t hesitate to add lemon, honey, sugar, or cinnamon before serving to give your CBD tea a finishing touch. Type and Duration of Effects of CBD Tea In regards to the effects of CBD, users often report a subtle, relaxing sensation that doesn't inhibit normal functioning. But this may vary from person to person. To see what effect it has, start with a low dose, observe how it makes you feel, and increase if desired. How long the effects of CBD will last also varies by the individual. Weight, metabolism, experience with CBD, and whether or not you ate can all affect the duration. Typically, the effects of orally consumed CBD can last anywhere from 2–5 hours. Is CBD Tea Good for Losing Weight? There isn’t any in-depth research on using CBD for weight loss. Anecdotally, however, some who take it believe that CBD acts as an appetite suppressant, and thus helps them with losing weight. The combination of CBD and tea from the Camellia sinensis plant may boost this effect, as tea itself may have weight loss-promoting properties. What Are the Side Effects of CBD Tea? Side effects of CBD are generally considered mild and uncommon. Nevertheless, you should always stick to the recommended dosages. Although CBD is widely believed to be non-toxic, it has the potential to interact with certain medications. If you’re concerned about any potential contraindications, consult your doctor. Does CBD Tea Make You Tired? CBD does have a relaxing effect that most people would describe as subtle and very mild—nothing like a couch-locking marijuana high. It is more likely to support a healthy sleep cycle than it is to make you sleepy. Still, the effect varies from person to person, and you can always increase or decrease your dose if you feel more tired than you’d like. How Often Can You Drink CBD Tea? Despite its non-psychotropic profile, CBD tea should still be enjoyed in moderation. If tea is your preferred CBD intake method, you may find two to three cups per day to be sufficient. On the other hand, if you take CBD orally via capsules or some other method, limit yourself to maybe just a single cup a day. In any case, always record your daily CBD intake in milligrams to keep track.

Finding the ideal method of taking cannabis preparations is essential in every patient’s protocol and varies depending on a lot of factors (type and location of disease, preparation accessibility, patient’s personal preferences, patient’s tolerability/sensitivity/endocannabinoid tone…). The use of cannabis suppositories has lately seen an increase, especially in some parts of Europe. In recent months, there has been a debate on the internet, about the efficacy of cannabis suppositories. There have been several online articles claiming that taking cannabis the rectal way was a good option, due to its high bioavailability and lack of unwanted side effects (1,2). The reasoning behind these claims was that cannabinoids in suppositories, if inserted correctly, bypassed the first-pass metabolism of the liver and went directly into the blood stream. I have to admit that I too believed in this theory and did not research it as I should have. I decided to do an in-depth report and here are my findings. Suppositories Suppositories are defined as solid dosage forms intended for insertion into body orifices (rectum, vagina, urethra) where they melt, soften or dissolve and exert a systemic effect. Rectal suppositories are conically shaped, 2-3 centimeters in length and weight 2 grams. They are placed into the rectum (the last 15-20 cm of the gastrointestinal tract) where they can be absorbed by 3 separate veins; the lower, middle and upper rectal (haemorrhoidal) veins. The lower and middle rectal veins drain directly into the general circulation, while the upper drains into the portal vein which flows to the liver. Several physiological (quantity of available fluid, properties of rectal fluid, contents of the rectum, circulation route) and physiochemical drug factors (drug solubility in the vehicle, particle size, nature of the base, spreading capacity) have an effect on rectal absorption. As an example, regarding drug solubility in vehicle, substances that are highly soluble in the vehicle (like THC in lipid bases) tend to have a slow release rate into the rectal fluid. The research When we evaluate a certain method of taking medicine, one of the important parameters is absorption effecting the systemic bioavailability; how much of the drug is actually gets into our bodies. It is usually measured in the blood as a percentage of the taken drug. Different drugs/molecules have different properties, affecting their absorption rates and bioavailability. Most of the studies on cannabinoid rectal absorption were done on delta-9-trans-tetrahydocanabinol (Δ-9-THC) or other tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) derivatives. Δ-9-THC, as most cannabinoids, is highly lipophilic (“likes” fats) and essentially water-insoluble (3). A study published in the mid 80’s, done on monkeys, has shown that Δ-9-THC taken via suppositories (in a lipophilic or hydrophilic base) was not detected in the blood leading to the conclusion, that it was not absorbed via the rectal route (4). This has led to the search of more appropriate derivatives of Δ-9-THC, that would have better bioavailability. At the beginning of the 90’s, El Sohly’s team found that Δ-9-THC hemisuccinate (Δ-9-THC-HS) had 13,5% bioavailability in suppositories administered to monkeys (5). Δ-9-THC hemisuccinate, a prodrug hemiester of Δ-9-THC, is prepared in the laboratory and is not present in cannabis or cannabis extracts. The same team also tested different types of Δ-9-THC esters (hemisuccinate, N-formyl alaninate, N-methyl carbamate and methoxy acetate) in different suppository bases, this time on monkeys and dogs. The results showed that Δ-9-THC-HS had the highest absorption rate and the bioavailability for each base was found to range from 52-61% and 13,5%, in dogs and monkeys respectively. Δ-9-THC-HS was then tested on humans (3 females) and compared to an oral formulation of Δ-9-THC in sesame oil (Marinol ®). The results showed that “areas under the curves for plasma THC were more than 30-fold higher than after oral dosing” (6). A pilot study done two patients evaluating the effects of oral (Marinol ®) or rectal (Δ-9-THC-HS) administration of cannabinoids concluded that the bioavailability of the rectal route was approximately twice that of the oral route due to higher absorption and lower first-pass metabolism (7). In an animal study showed analgesic and reinforcing properties in adjuvant-arthritic rats suggesting that “Δ-9-THC-HS has therapeutic potential and is unlikely to possess an abuse liability when used in the context of chronic pain” (8). Several studies have been published on methods of stabilising (9,10,11,12) and enhancing (13) Δ-9-THC-HS prodrug which led to a number of patents over the years (14,15). A 2014 study, looking at the release rate of cannabinoids from suppositories, using plant extract in theobroma oil (cocoa butter) as the suppository base with different percentages of polysorbate 85, found that “release profile of marijuana from the suppository bases was generally low” ranging from 0.0030 to 0.065 % at 150 min. It should be noted, that the extract was prepared using fresh cannabis leaves and was done in a laboratory setting (16). If we look at review studies of cannabinoid pharmacokinetics, under rectal administration, they all cite studies and bioavailability of Δ-9-THC-HS (17,18). Patient cases and anecdotal evidence We have had some very interesting results with suppositories in different types of health problems. Whole plant cannabis extract suppositories, with different ratios of THC and CBD, have been very efficient in localised anal or vaginal health problems. Regarding the bioavailability, we have had some reports of some patients experiencing classical THC side effects. A particular case of a cancer patient comes to mind, where she took one suppository and was high for 3 consecutive days. This is an extreme case, where we have to account the patient’s high sensitivity to THC, but it shows that there definitely was absorption into the blood. Here are a few examples of efficacy with cannabinoid suppository use: Haemorrhoids – with protocol of only a few suppositories we have seen very good results in haemorrhoids, with patients reporting that they were completely free from any symptoms. Even patients with chronic haemorrhoids, who have tried all the classical treatments and had undergone surgery, without any results, cannabinoid suppositories were effective and got rid of the problems. Inflammatory bowel disease – a patient had a colonoscopy and the doctor diagnosed it as Crohn’s disease. After taking 10 suppositories he had another colonoscopy and the doctor could not find any signs of the disease. In other cases of IBD this method has been very successful, due to the fact of applying cannabinoids right were the problem occurs. Cancer – in 2 cases, patients using suppositories have had positive results with negative CT scans of existing tumours. In both cases however, they were also using oral/sublingual extracts so it is hard to make any conclusions. Vaginal suppositories – while this article focuses mainly on the rectal route of administration, vaginal suppositories are also showing positive results. They are very effective in alleviating pain, such as menstrual cramps, inflammation and have an antibacterial effect. Women with hormonal imbalance problems, such as lack of regular menstruation, have also had great results in reinstating a normal balance. Conclusions The topic of cannabis suppositories is a hot one, with patients and caregivers who swear by them and others who are not so convinced. The truth is that we don’t have any real studies, done with natural cannabis extracts in suppositories, evaluating all the variables (different cannabinoids, different suppository bases, different cannabinoid concentrations, different rectal insertion lengths…) measuring the systematic bioavailability of cannabinoids in the blood. This does not mean that patients shouldn’t use them, especially if they have good results with this method. Suppositories for localised problems are extremely effective and have shown very good results in practice. On the other hand, using only suppositories as an efficient systemic absorption method is at least questionable if not irresponsible. In diseases such as cancer, where usually higher doses of cannabinoids are needed, cannabis suppositories should always be used in conjunction with other more proven methods, such as sublingual drops. This is a great time for cannabis research and the number of studies on cannabis/cannabinoids/endocannabinoid system is bound to surpass 3000 for 2016 – that’s 8 new studies per day! We can also learn a lot from patients/doctors/caregivers experiences with treating specific ailments with different methods of cannabinoid intake. So what are your experiences with cannabis suppositories? If you have any, I’d invite you to share them with us in the comments section. Delta 8 THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is a naturally occurring cannabinoid in cannabis (hemp and marijuana) and is commonly abbreviated as Delta 8 THC, Δ8THC, Δ8, D8, D8 THC, and D8THC. It’s an isomer of both cannabidiol (“CBD”) and Delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol (“D9THC”), sharing a chemical formula of C21H30O2 and a molar mass of 314.464 g/mol. It exists naturally and can also be produced by converting CBD or Delta 9 THC via a chemical reaction typically using heat, catalysts, altered pH environments, and/or solvents. Delta 8 THC is an extremely viscous oil and exists in an “activated” state similar to Delta 9 THC, meaning it does not need to be decarboxylated to feel its effects. Delta 8 THC is an extremely important cannabinoid specifically due to its ability to serve as a more functional substitute for Delta 9 THC. Delta 9 THC has a fair amount of negative side effects: addiction, sleep issues, paranoia, anxiety, laziness, etc. However, Delta 8 THC seems to have none, or at least far less severe side effects in comparison. This is an enormous benefit for the many individuals who we are helped medicinally by Delta 9 THC, but do not enjoy the side effects. And what may be the most medicinally and societally beneficial feature of all is Delta 8 THC may have incredibly reduced chance of addiction, as well as a built-in protection against abuse. Those who consume excessive amounts of D8 THC can build a tolerance to the mental “high” very quickly. So individuals wanting to consume D8 THC consistently in a recreational manner are forced to do so responsibly. This effect doubles as a benefit for those who use THC medicinally daily and need to be functional as they may be able to completely remove the “high” feeling altogether while still getting the relief they need. While it is still early, from a medicinal standpoint, Delta 8 THC seems handedly surpass both CBD and Delta 9 THC combined. Legalities of D8 THC Delta 8 THC was made legal by H.R. 2: The Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018, commonly referred to as the 2018 Farm Bill. It was specifically made legal when hemp allowed for all derivatives, isomers, and cannabinoids of hemp that were not Delta 9 THC. Up to that point, D8 THC had been illegal and was specifically named in the Controlled Substances Act. However, in addition to making all hemp cannabinoids, isomers, and derivatives legal, H.R. 2 specifically includes text to remove all confusion between laws by amending the Controlled Substances Act to exclude Delta 8 THC from hemp. Delta 8 THC is federally legal and legal in most states, but it is not legal in all states. D8 THC is legal in most states that have hemp laws mirroring H.R. 2, however not all states do this. Some states specifically exclude D8 THC or have laws that do not specifically make all cannabinoids, isomers, and derivatives of hemp legal, creating a grey area for the compound. Creation of Delta 8 THC Delta 8 THC exists naturally in cannabis (hemp & marijuana), but in such small quantities that it cannot be extracted and put into products at prices many people can afford. Luckily, one of the great things about cannabinoids is how closely many of them are structurally. These structural similarities allow cannabinoids to be changed from one to another fairly simply via chemical reactions. While many people want to call these cannabinoids “synthetics” that’s not an appropriate name for them. “Conversions” or “derivatives” is the more appropriate name, as not only do these compounds exist naturally, but many of these cannabinoids will change into each other naturally with the application of heat, time, and light. In fact, all cannabinoids start as CBGA and naturally synthesize into other cannabinoids during the maturation of the cannabis plant. And a conversion of THCA to Delta 9 THC with the application of heat is a conversion performed at home by anyone who smokes marijuana. This is all to tell you that conversions are an integral part of the cannabis industry and should not be feared in a general sense. These reactions are done to create other rare cannabinoids like cannabichromene (CBC), cannabinol (CBN), Delta 8 THC, and can even be done to create abundant cannabinoids like Delta 9 THC more cheaply than straightforward extraction. However, because D8 THC is created in a lab there does need to be some concern over the safety of the extract. Mainly that it is being created safely with all solvents, reagents, and acids or bases being properly removed from the end product. Delta 8 THC Effects Mood boost/Happier Calm/relaxed Soothes aches & pains Motivating Better sleep Increased sex drive Less nauseous Increased appetite The effects of Delta 8 THC vary per person, but the average experience could best be explained by imagining combining the best parts of CBD and Delta 9 THC. It is relaxing, mood-boosting, pleasantly euphoric yet clearheaded and not overwhelmingly intoxicating. It’s motivating/energizing to some, especially at lower doses, and sleep-inducing to others, especially at higher doses. With appropriate dosing, users report feeling far more functional and active on Delta 8 THC versus Delta 9 THC. D8 THC also appears to be more medicinal than both CBD and Delta 9 THC. If vaporized and inhaled the effects of Delta 8 THC appear within 20 minutes and can last as long as 5 hours with peak effects typically starting to decrease after 30 minutes to 2.5 hours depending on the individual. The higher the purity of D8 THC and the fewer cannabinoids like CBD and CBG, the quicker the onset and higher the intensity of effects. If consumed orally, Delta 8 THC can take anywhere between 45 minutes and 4 hours to peak, with effects lasting as long as 12 hours. This is much longer than typically observed with Delta 9 THC and has the potential to be exceptional and convenient as a cannabis treatment with the possibility of as little as 2 doses being necessary for a full 24 hour treatment. The lack or reduction of “mental fogginess” and paranoia is also a unique and beneficial trait of D8 THC as it allows many users the ability to take it while still accomplishing daily tasks. Negative effects can include drowsiness, upset stomach, dry mouth, red eyes, and headache. Onset of D8 THC Effects Delta 8 THC effects vary depending on the method of consumption but typically are delayed slightly more than Delta 9 THC effects. Purity and the presence of other compounds seem to play a role as well. Our observations have shown that a pure Delta 8 THC vape can be felt immediately or within a few minutes, whereas a D8 THC oil with a presence of 20% or more CBD can delay the noticed onset of effects by as much as 20 minutes. When eating Delta 8 THC, a user may not see peak effects for anywhere between 1-4 hours, which is a little different than Delta 9 THC which may peak anywhere between 45 minutes and 2 hours. Dosing Delta 8 THC Due to the delayed onset of Delta 8 THC, a user may need a few uses or days to find their perfect dose. Doses are highly individualized and don’t completely seem tied to any specific physical feature (age, sex, weight, etc) so, regardless of size, it’s best to start with a lower dose and work your way up. You can always take more, but you can’t untake Delta 8 THC. A typical oral dose for Delta 8 THC is between 10-40 mg. Those that need above 40mg tend to be heavy recreational users of Delta 9 THC. 10 mg can make a big difference in effects for some people so we generally recommend to not exceed 10 mg’s when stepping up in dosage. A typical vape dosage is 1-3 three second puffs. It is typically not necessary to take more than this unless the user is a heavy user of Delta 9 THC. If you’re a consistent user of Delta 9 THC, we typically recommend starting with it in a 1:1 manner. Many report Delta 8 THC being about 75% as potent as Delta 9 THC, but we aren’t ready to concede that figure as the different effects between the molecules aren’t directly comparable. We’ve found that potency varies per person and the expectation for, and ultimate lack of, a mental fog when using D8 THC is the main reason people find Delta 9 THC to be less potent, disregarding it’s increased potency in calming anxieties and body feel for many. We’ve had individuals report D8 THC being more potent than Delta 9 THC, especially with edibles. For this reason, we typically recommend taking a similar dose to what you would take with Delta 9 THC and work your dose up or down based on that initial response. How Long Do D8 THC Effects Last? The length of Delta 8 THC’s effects are very unique to the individual. As an average, we see high purity vapes lasting 1-5 hours and tinctures and edibles lasting 5-12 hours. Larger doses generally create longer lasting effects, especially with tinctures and edibles. A difficulty of judging the length of effects is that Delta 8 THC has a fairly natural onset and come down, so that it is sometimes hard for an individual to truly grasp where their “baseline” is/was before and after taking D8 THC. This is especially true for individuals who do not feel “high” from DTHC but just get a boost in mood. This mood change is sometimes unnoticeable to the individual themselves because of the natural onset and the user will think D8 THC had no effect. We’ve seen this many times in sampling sessions where the individual says they feel nothing, but someone they are with will then inform them how much more pleasant they’ve become in the last few minutes. Another difficulty in judging the length of effects is that many reports are given based on the “peak” and thus disregards a substantial amount of time spent above baseline after the peak effects are felt. D8 THC effects do not peak and then disappear. There is a gradual phase-out of effects. In general, the effects of vaporized D8 THC will be shorter than D8 THC that is eaten. Delta 8 THC Safety Due to Delta 8 THC needing to be created in a lab, the primary safety concern is that the lab procedures are performed correctly by a trained chemist. In terms of safety with acute usage, there is no known deadly overdose limit with D8 THC. However, when eating D8 THC, consuming more than one’s individual needs can induce extreme paranoia and anxiety, just like Delta 9 THC edibles. Go easy on the edibles and work slowly up to find your proper dose. Note that there is no long-term safety data for D8 THC. Tolerance to Delta 8 THC There are no human studies on the tolerance of Delta 8 THC. However, our observations have shown it to be similar to Delta 9 THC as tolerance will build gradually over time and can be accelerated from overuse. There have been some reports that tolerance to D8 THC builds more quickly than with Delta 9 THC, but these are almost always accompanied by admissions of the individuals using D8 THC quicker and more often than they did with Delta 9 THC. The primary reason users cite for this is the delayed onset of D8 THC in comparison to Delta 9 THC. Whereas a user familiar with Delta 9 THC may use D8 THC and expect to “feel” something within a certain time frame based on their past Delta 9 THC usage, D8 THC may take slightly longer to give that similar feel. This oftentimes results in individuals dosing themselves 1 or more times more thinking they “didn’t take enough”, creating a situation where a user doses more than necessary. In turn, the user then becomes tolerant to D8 THC at an accelerated rate. Delta 8 THC Metabolites Delta 8 THC is thought to have the same metabolites as Delta 9 THC except the double bond is changed when applicable. However, studies are not readily available with the exact metabolites. The only study even mentioning metabolites was done on mice. Our initial observations suggest the metabolites of Delta 8 THC are longer lasting than Delta 9 THC metabolites when eaten and possibly stronger, too. Will I Pass A Drug Test on Delta 8 THC? No, as Delta 8 THC’s metabolites are either that same or too similar to Delta 9 THC’s and will trigger a positive test for Delta 9 THC. We tested this by using at home drug testing kits on 3Chi employees who only used D8 THC and sending one employee to the same lab our local police go to for their drug testing. All tests were positive for THC. While we’ve heard of others passing while using D8 THC, we have not personally verified these reports, and our firsthand data suggest that’s, at best, not common. Shelf Life of Delta 8 THC To date, the longest test we have done on shelf life on Delta 8 THC oil potency is 4 months, and the oil came back testing better than it did the first time around. It was 95% D8THC when it was originally tested and 98% D8THC when tested at month 4. However, this is within normal testing variance ranges and should not be taken to mean that D8 THC extracts become more potent over time. While we won’t say anything is impossible, it’s unlikely the oil actually became more concentrated with D8 THC. The more likely conclusion is that everything remained unchanged after 4 months and the test had a minor variance. The oil was stored in individual syringes in clamshell packaging, at room temperature (~72F), and out of direct light (sunlight or artificial light). How Definitive is the Data on Delta 8 THC? In short, not very. Like almost every other cannabinoid besides Delta 9 THC and CBD, no long term studies have been done on Delta 8 THC for things like effects, proper dosing, safety, etc. While it is known to be a naturally occurring cannabinoid it is often found in very small quantities in flower and extracts (<0.1%). D8 THC products, however, may deliver D8 THC in up to 100% concentrations. Delta 8 THC has been safely used in a handful of marijuana markets for a couple of years, but those products typically use D8 THC obtained via the isomerization of Delta 9 THC, not CBD. These are slightly different processes, and almost always contain a fair amount (5-50%) Delta 9 THC in addition to D8 THC. D8 THC derived from hemp must be done differently to remain “hemp” as the end product must contain <0.3% Delta 9 THC. We can say that the feedback on D8 THC is overwhelmingly positive. To put it in perspective, the positive feedback on D8 THC absolutely crushes the positive feedback we saw with CBD. Observed Potential of Delta 8 THC / Areas to Study We can’t say that Delta 8 THC treats any specific condition, but we do have users tell us they are using it to treat conditions. Due to a large amount of positive feedback in these areas, we hope that studies will be done to potentially push D8 THC forward as a legitimate treatment for all types of pain relief, anxiety, depression, autism, brain disorders, nausea, appetite stimulation, and more. It’s our initial observations that D8 THC has the medicinal potential to be several orders of magnitude more beneficial than CBD and Delta 9 THC. So it’s hoped that the medical and cannabis communities will rally hard behind this amazing new cannabinoid.

Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive cancer that carries a poor prognosis. According to the American Cancer Society, the 5-year survival rate for patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer is 9%. More research into treatment options is urgently needed. Investigations are underway to explore if medical cannabis fights pancreatic cancer. I have seen many patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in my practice, and have witnessed how devastating it can be. Most people come to see me hoping that medical cannabis will not only help their symptoms, but maybe offer some hope for curing their disease too. I like to share that glimmer of hope with my clients. I tell them that the reality is we simply do not know the answer yet. However, there are some signs that signal reasons for hope. For example, according to a study published last summer, a naturally occurring plant chemical (phytonutrient) found in marijuana is showing promise in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. What’s really interesting is that this compound is not a cannabinoid, like CBD, THC, CBG and CBN. It’s actually produced from a flavonoid found in the marijuana plant. What’s a Flavonoid? Flavonoids are the largest group of phytonutrients (plant-based nutrients). As a result, they are found in many parts of the plant and play many different roles. Flavonoids occur in almost all fruits and vegetables, and are responsible for giving them their bright colors. Some examples of foods known to be high in flavonoids are blueberries, apples, oranges, cabbage, black and green tea, and red wine. Given the many ways this nutrient group supports health and wellness, it’s therefore no surprise that it has been used historically in Ayurvedic and Chinese Medicine. Some of the health benefits of flavonoids include: Anti-Oxidant: reducing free-radical damage Anti-Inflammatory: blocking messaging molecules that promote inflammation Cardiovascular Protection: strengthening blood vessels, decreased platelet clumping Nervous System Protection: protecting cells in the brain and nerves throughout the body, slowing degenerative disease, improving brain function Cancer Protection: decreasing risk of cancer through anti-carcinogenic and anti-mutagenic properties Cannaflavins are flavonoids only found in cannabis. Therefore, they are the focus of some research on the therapeutic uses of medical cannabis. Cannabis flavonoid shows promise in treating pancreatic cancer Recently, Caflenone, also known as FBL-03G, was granted “Orphan drug status” by the United States Food and Drug Administration. Caflenone, comes from a flavonoid found in a rare strain of Cannabis Sativa that grows naturally in Jamaica. The strain is notable for its particularly high content of flavonoids compared to others. The FDA’s decision comes on the heels of a research study published in Frontiers in Oncology that demonstrated the therapeutic efficacy of Caflenone (FBL-03G) and its significant potential in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. Researchers from Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School tested the drug on animal models. Their results showed that Caflenone had a significant effect on tumor progression, including metastases, and increased the survival rates of the animals treated with the drug. Clinical trials to test the drug on humans with pancreatic cancer are expected to begin over the next few months. The drug is manufactured by Flavocure Biotech, Inc., a company that is working to create cannabis-derived molecules with targeted action against rare forms of cancer. Caflenone is just one of the drugs in their portfolio that shows promise in the fight against pancreatic cancer, and possibly Glioblastoma (a very aggressive form of brain cancer). The next step to determine if cannabis fights pancreatic cancer, is to try these drugs on people. Now that the FDA has granted Caflenone Orphan drug status, that is possible, offering a glimmer of hope in the treatment of these type of cancer.

Medically reviewed by Dr. LaShanda Brown Those that suffer through bouts of gout know firsthand how uncomfortable, painful, and debilitating the condition is. Common over-the-counter medications can be effective, but many people cannot take them due to their adverse side effects. This has left many gout victims in quite the predicament. Either suffer through agonizingly painful bouts of gouty arthritis with no medication, or take pain-blocking drugs that present risks of side-effects and contraindications. Nowadays, there is another option available. You may have heard recently of the results that CBD oil for arthritis can produce. To be clear, there are specific clinical trials on CBD for gout. However, research on other forms of arthritis and inflammatory joint pain has been positive. As such, some are inferring that CBD may combat gout via its analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. In this article, we talk about what gouty arthritis is and how it arises. We’ll also discuss what possibilities exist in terms of using CBD for gout as a natural source of relief. First Things First: What is Gout (aka Gouty Arthritis)? Gout is a sub-form of arthritis (in fact, it’s one of dozens of different specific types of arthritis) that involves the accumulation of excess fluids in joint cavities. To be even more specific, it is the accumulation of uric acid in the blood. Over time, uric acid may concentrate throughout the body into synovial cavities and solidify into hard crystals (similar to kidney stones), where they can turn into intensely painful needle-like projections that cause a host of internal damage and discomfort. Without frequent screening, it is difficult to predict a gout flare-up. In fact, arthritis sufferers can live for years with what’s known as asymptomatic hyperuricemia. This is when there is an abnormally large content of uric acid in the body. As we discuss, specific bouts of gouty arthritis occur when uric acid crystallizes in joint fluids. This crystallization causes acute pain, severe inflammation, and intense tenderness and sensitivity to touch. Upon first recognition of symptoms, gout usually worsens over a 24-hour period. Typically, symptoms will subside over the course of a few days. In the absence of adequate treatment, pain and general discomfort can be debilitating. G out and Lifestyle Conditions: Things You Should Know Gout is relatively common in older (55+) individuals who live sedentary lifestyles with minimal exercise. This is especially true when combined with an unhealthy diet. Unhealthy diets include large amounts of sugar, alcohol, and saturated fats. These foods can lead to obesity and high blood pressure, and increase the risk of gout. In fact, obesity, high blood pressure, high sugar intake, and frequent alcohol consumption are all known “gout contributors.” They can vastly increase the likelihood of developing the condition in later stages of life. Gout is, in fact, a heavy man’s disease. Harvard Health, “All About Gout” Men are at a higher risk for gout development than women. While the reasons for this are not clear, the female hormone estrogen could play a role. Estrogen functions in uric acid regulation, and may decrease the likelihood of it solidifying in joint tissue. Traditionally, gout associates with (to put it bluntly) “big-boned” males who engage in excessive eating and drinking. In other words, obese men are those most at risk. While there are exceptions to this generalization, it largely rings true. Is CBD the Same Thing as Marijuana? We’ll stop short of going into a long report on the differences between CBD and marijuana. However, it’s still important to understand a few things about CBD before you consider taking it for gout. Or, for that matter, before you consider it for pain, inflammation, or any other condition. First, CBD is in fact a natural component of the marijuana plant. It is one of hundreds of different compounds known as “phytocannabinoids.” The two main phytocannabinoids in cannabis are THC and CBD. In fact, THC and CBD are usually by far the most abundant cannabinoids in any given strain of marijuana. As you may already know, THC is the substance that accounts for the “infamous” marijuana high. This is due to its influence on chemical receptors in the brain. Since CBD has a different chemical pathway, it does not produce a psychoactive response. In fact, CBD is virtually 100% non-intoxicating. This is the main reason it’s become so wildly popular over the last couple of years. It’s also the reason CBD oil use is increasing among the older adult population. CBD works by interacting with natural receptors and other chemicals in the body’s endocannabinoid system, or ECS. The ECS plays a major role in whole-body homeostasis. It influences things like appetite control and temperature, as well as pain and immune system responses. As such, CBD can be useful to help ease pain in some forms of arthritis. It possesses pain-relieving, inflammation-reducing, and immune system enhancing properties. These properties combine to help reduce the onset of painful flare-ups and debilitating symptoms. How CBD for Gout May Potentially Offer Symptomatic Relief Like we said earlier, there have not as of yet been any specific clinical trials or research studies done on CBD oil for gout. Yet, there has been no shortage of research publications on CBD for other types of arthritis, including both osteoarthritis, a mostly inflammatory condition, and rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune condition. The research supports the anti-inflammatory and immune supportive properties of CBD for people with arthritis. Like many other forms of arthritis, gout may also be categorized as the result of some immune system deficiency. Localized tissues are inadvertently attacked, leading to the intense pain and inflammation associated with the condition. Moreover, it is known that when the endocannabinoid system is deficient or not functioning at full capacity (as any bodily system is prone to doing, especially as we age), it could lead to hyperactivity of the immune system, which is known to promote the onset of arthritic symptoms. Basically, gout is characterized by two major conditions, both of which CBD oil has been well-documented to provide therapy for: pain and inflammation. Using CBD for gout-related pain In terms of pain relief, one of the most thorough investigations that clinically shows the natural cannabinoid to act as an analgesic (pain-reliever) was conducted via patient survey from the collaborators at Care by Design and Project CBD. Essentially, results of the survey showed that CBD appeared to act as “an effective pain management tool with few negative side effects,” and also that it could offer “significant decrease in opiate usage among elderly patients.” Likewise, CBD’s role as an anti-inflammatory is equally impressive and well-documented. This is entirely relevant for gout victims as swelling, tenderness, and joint inflammation are hallmark symptoms of the disorder. Essentially, clinical trials and scientific publications in recent years have verified what thousands of people have already known for decades: that cannabis is a uniquely potent treatment for localized inflammation. With this in mind, it takes no stretch of the imagination to see how CBD oil for gout might be a highly effective – and side-effect free – alternative treatment option. It is worth mentioning that studies have shown CBD oil to be most effective and potent when taken as a “full-spectrum” tincture. This means that rather than acting alone as an isolate, the compound seems to function within the body more efficiently when other natural cannabis compounds (such as terpenes and flavonoids) are present. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you have to “get high,” as full-spectrum CBD oils are still 100% non-psychoactive and THC-free. For some ideas on a few of the most reliable and effective full-spectrum oils on the market, check out this recent rundown that we did on the subject. Final Thoughts on CBD for Gout To conclude, it is worth mentioning again that there have been no known clinical trials that showcase CBD to be an effective treatment for gout. Any indication that the natural cannabis compound may help to ease the onset of flare-ups and symptoms draws from the fact that CBD for arthritis has been a well-documented clinical topic over recent years. Moreover, the capacities for CBD oil to act as an anti-inflammatory, pain reliever, and immune system enhancer make it a prime candidate to act as a potential alternative form of therapy for gout sufferers all across the nation.

With the holidays just right around the corner. Many of us go through some type of depression. My own personal battle was back in 2017 when I lost my daughter to suicide. I didn't know she was battling demons from within. Depression is the silent killer here in the USA. losing a loved one with depression, you go through the, "IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN I WOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING"! People with depression hide their feelings, thoughts so others won't see them hurting inside. Until one day the pain is so unbearable that they think by ending their life is the answer. To whomever is reading this blog suicide is not the answer, all you are doing is leaving the ones still alive forever hurting of your actions. Talk to someone they might have the answer that you are looking for. I turned to CBD for my pain with cancer. After many months of research, scouring the web on CBD and how it works, This is what I have come across. I am not a doctor but a mother and a cancer survivor. Given the fact that psychiatric disorders can’t specifically be attributed to any one neurological deficiency, it is tough for researchers to explicitly state the effects of cannabis on things like anxiety and depression. However, research has been done on the potential of CBD to be used as an alternative treatment option, and positive results have been observed in patients. CBD is a constituent of Cannabis sativa with great psychiatric potential, including uses as an antidepressant-like and anxiolytic-like compound. CNS and Neurological Disorders Drug Targets Depression Depression is not just being sad on occasion or having a rough day. Everyone experiences sadness from time to time. But, sadness is not the same as depression. Depression is a prolonged sadness that lasts more than two weeks. Depression can cause you to have a loss in appetite or lose interest in activities you once enjoyed. This is a serious mental health problem that can lead to a variety of health problems. It can even affect a person's ability to function at work or home. Depression can come at any time and happen to anyone. On average, people first begin feeling depressed around their late-teens to mid-20s. According to the American Psychiatric Association, “Depression affects an estimated one in 15 adults (6.7%) in any given year.” People turn to many different helpful solutions when dealing with depression like psychotherapy or medication. However, people have begun turning to CBD oil for depression because of the many benefits it has to offer. CBD As we mentioned above, CBD is a completely natural compound. It is found in and sourced from the hemp plant. Our hemp plants are organically grown without pesticides or herbicides to ensure a safe quality product. We understand needing to know more about the product you are using helps to bring relief to your life. You should understand as much as possible about CBD and using CBD oil when you are trusting it to take care of something as important as your mental health. So, let’s clear up a few things. CBD vs. CB oil First things first, you should know what you’re looking for. CBD is short for the scientific name cannabidiol. A misunderstanding often takes place when people are searching for CBD products, and they search for “CB oil” instead. This will not get you what you need. CBD oil has many medicinal benefits. “CB oil” does not exist. Make sure you know what you are looking for to ensure you get the product that is right for you. CBD vs. THC CBD and THC are both cannabinoids found in cannabis and hemp plants. Hemp plants can be bred to contain much less, to hardly any THC. During the extraction process, THC is also filtered out from the final CBD oil product. THC is the compound that causes mind-altering effects. CBD does not cause these effects and will not give you the feeling of being high. To legally sell CBD oil for depression, the oil must not contain more than 0.3% THC which is only a trace amount. Is CBD safe? CBD is non-toxic, and it is considered safe to use CBD oil for depression. CBD has rare side-effects that are not regarded as severe. A few possible side-effects are fatigue and diarrhea, this compared to sometimes very harmful pharmaceuticals. CBD has no known fatal reports of overdose. You should always talk to your doctor before changing your normal medical regimen to CBD oil for depression. Is CBD legal? CBD sourced from marijuana plants are not legal in every state. However, CBD sourced from hemp plants are legal in all 50 states as long as it does not contain more than 0.3% THC. All of our CBD products are sourced from hemp plants grown in the U.S and contain less than 0.3% CBD. All of our CBD products are legal and can also be shipped to all 50 states. CBD Oil for Depression Using CBD oil for depression has been researched and shown to be an effective alternative treatment. Unfortunately, CBD cannot cure depression. But, it has been shown to improve the symptoms of depression. Our bodies naturally produce cannabinoids that help regulate functions in the body such as mood, sleep, pain sensation, and appetite. These cannabinoids bind themselves to specific receptors found in the brain. After that, they help stimulate the production and action of serotonin. Serotonin is a vital natural chemical in the body that acts to improve mood and reduce stress. Low levels of serotonin production can lead to depression. Taking CBD oil for depression can result in the production of more serotonin which can help ease the symptoms of depression. Often times, insomnia, anxiety, or both can go along with depression. Battling depression is difficult enough. If you are also experiencing insomnia and anxiety, depression can feel unbearable. Thankfully, CBD brings hope for this too. Studies have shown that CBD oil can help relieve symptoms of anxiety and insomnia that can add to depression. CBD can come in many different forms. Often times, when treating depression people choose a CBD oil tincture. CBD oil tinctures are potent and provide fast relief. It is best to start with one dose of CBD oil and work your way up to more if you feel it is needed. Hold the CBD oil under your tongue for about 60 seconds for max benefits. You can also try flavored CBD oil tinctures if the natural taste is bothersome. CBD Oil for Depression – Could it Help You? CBD is mentioned in a 2014 study as having “antidepressant-like effects.” If you or a loved one have been experiencing depression, it may be time to give CBD oil a try. Using CBD oil for depression has led to a better quality of life for many people—and it could for you too. You can try our CBD oil risk-free with our 30-day money back guarantee. Try it, and discover what CBD oil can do for you. Due to FDA Regulations, we recommend that you do your own research on CBD products. We also suggest that you read the reviews on our website; where our customers record their real-world results of using our products.

Almost all of us experience aches and pains as part of daily life, from the occasional sports injury to more chronic concerns like recurring back pain and arthritis. These conditions can seriously diminish your quality of life, preventing you from working, staying fit, taking part in your favorite hobbies, or simply spending time with family and friends. At the first twinge of an achy joint or sore muscle, you’re likely to stop by the medicine cabinet and reach for a traditional painkiller, like Advil or Tylenol. However, over-the-counter options can be frustratingly ineffective and have adverse effects when used regularly, so they’re not an ideal solution for chronic pain sufferers. In some cases, the pain you experience may be too intense for treatment with OTC medications. Many patients with intense or chronic pain also face concerns about the habit-forming dangers of using stronger pharmaceuticals for pain management. Enter a new possibility for pain relief: a CBD oil cream. A high quality, CBD daily intensive cream can be a game changer when it comes to pain. Whether you’re managing chronic pain or simply seeking a safe and natural remedy for life’s daily bumps and bruises, read on to learn more about CBD for pain relief. What is CBD? Let’s start with the basics—what is CBD, anyway? CBD is short for cannabidiol, a cannabis-derived compound with a wide variety of medicinal uses. Unlike THC, the other well-known compound derived from cannabis, CBD doesn’t have psychoactive effects. That means you can use it for medicinal purposes without getting high, so it’s safe to use even when you’re working or driving (which can be especially important for those with chronic pain who require regular treatment). In recent years, CBD has been used to treat conditions including inflammation, nausea, epileptic seizures, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and—of course—pain. Scientists are diving deep into the countless medical applications of CBD and learning new things every day. Some of the biggest breakthroughs in these recent studies have come in the field of CBD oil for pain relief. Every CBD daily cream starts with hemp; when searching for top-quality options, choose CBD products made with organic hemp plants that were never treated with pesticides or herbicides. Once the hemp plants are mature, they’re harvested and moved through an extraction process, which removes the CBD from each plant and transforms it into an oil. After the oil is extracted, it’s blended with beneficial botanicals including cooling menthol, aloe vera, and tea tree oil to create the final product: a smooth, moisturizing, and effective CBD cream. How Does CBD Cream Relieve Pain? One of the most amazing things about CBD is the fact that it works with a built-in mechanism in your own body: the endocannabinoid system. This system works to maintain homeostasis in the body, with receptors scattered across nearly every major organ system, from the brain and spinal cord to the immune system and gastrointestinal tract. When activated by exposure to CBD, the receptors of the endocannabinoid system become reactive, so they’re able to affect key body processes including mood, memory, appetite, and pain. CBD is particularly effective when it interacts with parts of the endocannabinoid system known as CB2 receptors. These receptors help to control pain and inflammation throughout the body, making them especially important in the treatment of inflammatory conditions like arthritis. Finally, the cannabidiol in CBD cream can promote faster healing for damaged nerves, a crucial element of pain reduction during recovery from many types of injuries. Why Choose a CBD Cream? If you’re considering a natural approach to pain relief, you might wonder: why choose a CBD lotion or CBD salve over an ingestible option, like gummies, oil, or a vaporizer? For some people, it’s simply a matter of taste. Not everyone likes the flavor of CBD edibles, so a pain relief cream that allows them to skip the step of ingestion is the most appealing option. Using a CBD cream for pain can also offer faster, more targeted relief than ingestible options. Studies show that “CBD is hydrophobic and has poor oral bioavailability. Topical drug application avoids gastrointestinal administration [and] first pass metabolism, providing more constant plasma levels,” meaning that topical applications remove some barriers to efficacy raised by oral consumption. Unlike ingestible options, a topical oil or CBD salve allows you to directly treat the specific areas where pain occurs. If you suffer from sore muscles or joints, a CBD rub can be applied to the skin in those affected areas; it’s formulated to penetrate through the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis to reach deep into the body. Because the endocannabinoid system has receptors scattered across the body, the active ingredients in CBD cream can trigger a cellular healing response wherever it is applied. This means that the maximum concentration of CBD-rich hemp oil will be focused on the areas that need it most, rather than being dispersed throughout the body via ingestion. In most cases, a CBD pain relief rub (like the Amazing Cream) is also formulated with additional ingredients that promote pain relief and skin health, such as menthol, aloe vera, Vitamin E, and tea tree oil. This makes topical creams an even more appealing option for pain relief because you can enjoy the additional benefits of these natural compounds. Who Can Benefit from Using a Topical CBD Oil for Pain? The simple answer to this question is: almost anyone! Scientists have explored cannabis as an effective treatment for many types of pain, ranging from migraines to arthritis. CBD is especially valuable for those who require regular pain relief due to chronic conditions, particularly older patients. One recent study notes, “Older adults commonly take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)…chronic NSAID use increases the risk of peptic ulcer disease, acute renal failure, and stroke/myocardial infarction. Moreover, chronic NSAID use can exacerbate a number of chronic diseases including heart failure and hypertension, and can interact with a number of drugs (eg, warfarin, corticosteroids).” A CBD pain relief cream offers an alternative to these traditional pain management methods without the associated risks of other drugs. Here are a few major categories of pain that can experience significant relief with regular use of a CBD topical salve: Sports Injuries If you’re an active athlete or simply an occasional participant in sports, CBD cream can serve as a star player in your arsenal when it comes to recovering from injuries. Topical CBD applications, particularly when paired with other cooling and calming agents like menthol, are excellent for treating the sore muscles associated with long-distance running, weight training, and similarly intensive physical activities. Massaging the skin to encourage deep penetration of the cream also has added benefits for the affected muscles. Chronic Pain As noted above, pain management in the case of chronic conditions can be especially challenging due to the long-term side effects of common painkillers. CBD cream offers a safe, targeted alternative to NSAIDS and other popular pain relievers for those who require consistent, daily pain relief due to a chronic issue. Arthritis Recent studies have also revealed that topical applications of CBD could relieve pain associated with arthritis and similar inflammatory conditions, which can be notoriously hard to treat. As we learned above, CBD oil interacts with the CB2 receptors of the endocannaboid system, which help our bodies regulate pain and inflammation—the major symptoms of arthritis. CBD has also proven to be an effective remedy for reducing joint swelling, another serious side effect of arthritis. Daily Aches & Pains CBD cream can serve as an effective substitute for standard analgesics like acetaminophen and NSAIDS, providing a natural alternative when you’re faced with the injuries and discomforts of daily life. If you’ve slipped on an icy sidewalk, slept the wrong way and ended up with a stiff neck, or wrenched your back while moving a friend into their new house, a topical CBD treatment can help you pop a few less pills on your road to recovery. What Should I Keep in Mind When Applying CBD Cream? Using a CBD cream for pain relief is incredibly simple—just apply it regularly to the areas where you feel discomfort. For the most effective results, start by thoroughly washing and drying the skin before every application; this ensures that other products on the skin’s surface won’t dilute the cream. Massage the cream into the skin for a few seconds to encourage deeper absorption. Finally, think about targeting areas that might be an unexpected source of pain. For example, a tension headache could originate in the neck, or back pain could stem from a strain in your hip or shoulder. Are There Side Effects of Using CBD for Regular Pain Management? One major reason that CBD cream is so effective for the treatment of chronic or recurring pain is that it’s virtually free of harmful side effects. This means that it’s safe to use every day, as long as your pain persists. CBD is not an addictive compound, and users generally do not build up a tolerance to it—even after sustained applications over many months or years. In fact, some research has shown that CBD works in a unique way with the endocannabinoid system; over time, it helps receptors in the system remain more active, so you’ll actually need smaller and smaller doses of CBD to feel its effects. Though it’s easy to confuse CBD with other cannabis-based products, you can’t get high from CBD cream because it doesn’t contain THC—the compound that’s responsible for the psychoactive effects of cannabis. That means it’s safe to use a CBD topical cream as part of your daily routine, even if you plan on driving, going to work, or participating in physical activity. While the side effects of CBD are mild and extremely rare, you should always consult with your doctor before beginning a new treatment, especially if you currently take any medications. The known side effects of CBD include diarrhea, tiredness, and weight changes. What Other Conditions Can CBD Lotion Treat? While this article takes a deep dive into the benefits of CBD oil cream for pain, this multi-purpose product can be used to treat other conditions, too. Many people find a CBD lotion remarkably effective as a remedy for common and painful skin conditions. Rashes, eczema, dry skin, and acne can all be improved by regular applications of a CBD infused cream. The same properties that help to fight pain and inflammation inside the body can be used to soothe the skin when it’s irritated or damaged. The antibacterial benefits of CBD are especially powerful for those who struggle with acne or occasional blemishes. Finally, CBD is an excellent compound for promoting skin healing after injuries or breakouts. Even if you don’t suffer from troublesome skin conditions, a CBD cream can offer benefits for nearly every skin type. The natural ingredients that transform extracted hemp oil into a soothing cream work to protect and moisturize the skin during everyday use. For example, our CBD-infused Amazing Cream contains ingredients with a wealth of vitamins and flavonoids—such as toning tea tree oil, calming aloe vera, and age-fighting Vitamin E—to promote skin vitality and radiance. If you suffer from anxiety but don’t enjoy the flavor of ingestible CBD products, a topical cream may also offer an alternative option to boost your mood. Incorporating a CBD lotion into daily self-care rituals, particularly before bed, can provide relief from symptoms of anxiety by offering a moment of tranquility and relaxation at the end of a long day. Conclusion As researchers dig deeper into the science of CBD, we’re likely to discover even more potential applications for this powerful and entirely natural compound. For those who suffer from chronic pain, occasional injuries, and even painful skin conditions, a daily intensive CBD cream could offer life-changing therapy that provides pain relief without concerns about the harmful side effects of pharmaceuticals commonly used for pain management. Smokable hemp flowers are a fast-growing herb. And we don’t mean down on the farm. Ever since hemp and CBD were legalized at the federal level at the end of 2019, smokable high-CBD hemp flowers have exploded in popularity. In this post we’ll explain what hemp flower is and list some of the most popular strains. What Is a Smokable Hemp CBD Flower? In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, smokable hemp is essentially the same plant as marijuana but without the buzz-inducing cannabinoid compound known as THC (delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol). Rather, hemp is high in another cannabinoid compound known as CBD (cannabidiol). (Some strains are high in another cannabinoid known as CBG instead of CBD. CBD and the other compounds found in hemp flowers (terpenes) have many of the same physiological and psychological effects as marijuana but, again, without the high. The kind of hemp that you smoke is actually the offspring of marijuana and not that industrial hemp that’s grown for its nutritious seeds and strong natural fibers. Smokable hemp flowers are grown the same way marijuana is grown — in pots or plots — rather than in big dense fields as is the case with industrial hemp. Only female plants are grown to avoid the production of seeds. Smokable hemp flower looks like marijuana, it smells like marijuana, and it smokes like marijuana. But it’s not marijuana. Although you might get nasty looks if you’re smoking a hemp “cigarette” in any public place where the smoking of tobacco is permitted, then you are not breaking the law. (Think of it like so-called “near beer” which looks, smells, and tastes like beer but doesn’t get you drunk.) Just as is the case with marijuana, hemp flower strains come in a wide variety of both indica and sativa-dominant hybrids. And just like marijuana, some smokable hemp flower strains offer more creative energy and are more suited for daytime use, while others are perfect for end-of-day and bedtime use. You can roll hemp flowers into joints. You can stuff it in a pipe. You can spark it in a bong. You can even use a dry herb vaporizer to “smoke” hemp. Why Smoke Hemp Flower? There are numerous reasons that people smoke hemp. For one, it’s not poisonous like the nicotine found in tobacco. The amount of nicotine found in one pack of cigarettes is enough to kill a person if consumed all at once. Hemp flowers are completely non-toxic. There isn’t one single credible report that someone has died because they smoked too much hemp. Secondly, hemp is not known to cause cancer and hypertension (high blood pressure) like marijuana is. And thirdly, hemp is not addictive like tobacco is. In fact many addiction treatment programs are now using CBD to help their patients kick deadly habits such as hard drugs and alcohol. So, the bottom line is, if you’re going to smoke an herb, you’ll be hard pressed to find an alternative that is as satisfying and safe for human consumption as hemp flowers. Choosing The Right Hemp Based CBD Strain If you’re choosing between a pure indica and a pure sativa, the choice is clear: Indicas can be extremely relaxing and are best for nighttime use. Sativas can be uplifting and invigorating and are best for daytime use. Top smokable CBD strains Below are some of the more popular strains of CBD hemp flowers available to online shoppers. Some — generally those that are grown outdoors — are more prevalent in certain regions of the country than others. This is because they are bred to thrive in a particular geography and climate. ACDC, Lifter, Suver Haze, Hawaiian Haze, Sour Space Candy, BaOx That being said, most of these strains can be found online For Non-Smokers Understandably, some people are not interested in smoking hemp. However, you might be interested in CBD hemp flower or High CBD cannabis strains in other ways. Hemp flowers can be used in all of the same ways that people consume marijuana. It can be vaporized using a dry herb vaporizer, it can be cooked and infused into oils or butter, and it can be used topically. Eating Raw CBD Flower Hemp flowers can also be powdered using a coffee grinder or bullet blender and added directly to smoothies or food. By consuming hemp flower raw you get a different set of cannabinoids — most notably CBDA rather than CBD. Although they have very similar effects, they do differ. In 2008 researchers found that the molecular structure of CBDA closely resembled that of common nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs). And in 2013 another study found that CBDA was a thousand times more powerful than CBD in binding to a specific serotonin receptor. To Sum It Up Smokable CBD flower is fast becoming a popular alternative to smoking marijuana strains that are high in THC as well as to smoking tobacco. While CBD sales have slumped a bit recently, sales of smokable hemp flowers are brisk and rising fast. This can be attributed to the fact that it’s legal in almost all 50 states, can be purchased without a medical marijuana card, and can easily be purchased online and delivered to your doorstep. The more people that switch to hemp from other forms of CBD, marijuana, and tobacco, the higher the quality of hemp flower strains will become in the future. CBD Bioavailability and Onset Time There are two important concepts that you’ll need to grasp before we talk about the available delivery methods for CBD oil. These are CBD’s bioavailability and onset time. Bioavailability refers to how much of the CBD contained in the product makes its way into your bloodstream. The main factor in bioavailability comes from the fact that oil and water don’t mix well. CBD is oil and blood is water-based. As a result, much of the CBD in your system is absorbed into fatty tissues before it can get into your bloodstream. One way to overcome this problem to some extent is a process called nanoencapsulation in which nanoscale droplets of CBD oil are encapsulated in a microscopic casing that more easily homogenizes with water. Nanoencapsulation can increase a product’s bioavailability by as much as 400 percent. Onset time refers to how long it takes for the CBD to take effect. Onset time is dependent on the path by which the CBD gets into your system. When inhaled, CBD is instantly absorbed into the bloodstream via blood vessels in the lungs and is quickly transported throughout the body. Edibles provide a slower onset time because it takes time for the CBD to make its way through the digestive system. Both bioavailability and onset time can vary greatly from product to product. For example, while edibles tend to have a longer onset time and lower bioavailability, vaping CBD oil provides almost immediate onset of effects and offers near 100 percent bioavailability. However, that doesn’t mean vaping is a Onset Time of various CBD products Here’s a rough breakdown of the various products and their bioavailabilities and onset times: CBD Vaporizers and Ionizers Includes CBD vape pens, dry herb vaporizers, and inhalers High bioavailability: (60%-100%) Fast onset time: Near-instantaneous Smokable CBD-rich hemp Smokable hemp flower, pre-rolls, hemp cigarettes High bioavailability: (60%-100%) Fast onset time: Near-instantaneous Oral CBD medications Nonencapsulated capsules, tablets, lozenges Medium bioavailability (30%-60%) Medium onset time (up to 30 min.) CBD Capsules (nanoencapsulated) Low-med bioavailability Slow-med onset time CBD Tinctures (sublingual) CBD oil tinctures and alcohol tinctures Medium bioavailability Medium-Fast onset time Edible CBD Candy Hard candy, chocolate, gummies, etc. Low-med bioavailability Medium onset time Edible CBD Baked Goods Brownies, cookies, etc. Low bioavailability Slow onset time CBD Topicals CBD creams, balms, ointments, lotions, lubes Low (under 30%) bioavailability Slow onset time (up to an hour) CBD Drinks CBD-infused coffee, tea, water, soda, beer, wine, etc. Medium bioavailability Slow onset time Full-Spectrum CBD Oil vs. Pure CBD There is another consideration when choosing a CBD product and that’s what’s in it aside from CBD. A spectrum of CBD oil formulas is available. Full-spectrum CBD oil – Contains cannabinoids and terpenes from the original plant. Every batch’s profile is unique. Broad-spectrum CBD oil – Contains purified CBD as well as other cannabinoids and terpenes in precise amounts. CBD-infused – Vegetable oil, alcohol, food, drinks, creams, etc. to which purified CBD has been added. About cannabinoids CBD, found in the aromatic, resinous flower clusters of CBD-rich hemp, is just one of the scores of similar compounds known as cannabinoids. Although hemp produces CBD in the highest abundance, some strains produce additional minor cannabinoids each of which produces its own set of effects. The most common cannabinoids in hemp after CBD include CBG, CBN, CBA. Each individual cannabinoid has a slightly different molecular structure. The effects produced by full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD depend on the levels of each of these cannabinoids. In other words, the CBD oil from one manufacturer might have a different effect from another. Most reputable CBD makers offer a certificate of analysis for each lot number which lists the available cannabinoids and their concentrations. About terpenes In addition to cannabinoids, hemp also produces essential oils known as terpenes. These aromatic compounds give each strain of cannabis its distinctive scent and flavor. Terpenes have been used for millennia in a healing modality with which you might be familiar known as aromatherapy. Whereas cannabinoids can make up as much as 20 to 25 percent or more of the weight of hemp flowers, terpenes, on the other hand, are measured in parts per million. As with cannabinoids, the effects of a particular CBD oil formula also depends on the levels of various terpenes. Some terpenes can cause relaxation while others make you feel more awake. Some can increase your appetite while others can reduce appetite. For this reason, it’s important to know which terpenes are present in the product you are considering buying. While one formulation might produce unwanted effects, another might be ideal for a particular user. CBD is odorless and tasteless, while terpenes have strong aromas and flavors. For this reason, CBD-infused products such as topicals are often made without the addition of terpenes. How to choose the ideal CBD product for you Now that we have a basic understanding of what’s in CBD products, let’s take a look at the various factors that need to be considered when determining which product is right for you. To recap: Consider Onset Time People take CBD for a wide array of medical conditions. Some of those conditions, such as panic attacks, PTSD, etc. come on quickly and need fast relief. The products with the fastest onset time are inhalable such as vaporizers and atomizer inhalers. If you’re using CBD oil as a dietary supplement, on the other hand, the onset time is not really a factor and products such as tinctures, oils, and edibles will do just fine. Bioavailability Considerations One thing is for sure: CBD is not cheap. And no matter how much of it gets into your bloodstream, it’s the amount in the product that you’re paying for. What this means is that products with higher bioavailability are usually a better deal. More bang for your buck, so to speak. For example, If a product has a bioavailability of only 10%, you’d have to use four times more than if you used a product that has a 40% bioavailability. Nanoencapsulated CBD oils can have as much as four times the bioavailability of non-encapsulated products, oftentimes for the same price. What’s Your Lifestyle The time and place that you take CBD can be a huge factor in determining which CBD product is right for you. For example, if you’re taking CBD every morning or evening before bed, and you’re doing it home, then tinctures might be perfect for you since you can just keep a dropper in your medicine cabinet. On the other hand, if you’re traveling, edible products might be a better choice because there’s nothing to spill. Conditional Considerations This one is pretty much a no brainer, but the type of product should be matched to the condition. For example, if you’re using CBD to treat a skin condition, then a topical product such as cream, ointment, salve, or balm would be advised. On the other hand, if you’re taking CBD to deal with a digestive issue, capsules and edibles are a better choice. Dosage Accuracy Another thing to be considered is the accuracy of the dosage. Dosage is easy to determine when you’re taking capsules because it’s right on the bottle. Determining dosage is much more difficult with a method like vaping. Vaping dosage, on the other hand, depends on a number of factors including how much you inhale and how deeply you inhale it.
