Archie Edwards, 59, a resident of Sugarbush Street in Bunnell, was killed in a late-night wreck on State Road 100 just west of Bunnell Thursday, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

The wreck was alcohol-related, the highway patrol said.

Edwards was driving a 2001 GMC Pick-up truck with no lights on, and speeding at about 80 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone. He was traveling west in the Bimini area across the SR100 bridge. He crossed the center line and veered toward the shoulder, then overcorrected to his right, back onto the highway. The pick-up rotated clockwise and veered onto the opposite shoulder of the road, where the front of the truck hit a ditch and rolled end over end several times before hitting two trees and coming to a rest on its right side, facing southeast in the ditch.

A wrecker was still cleaning up the scene Friday afternoon, after the pick-up truck itself had been removed.

No other vehicle was involved.

One less jerk on the road.

  2. Ed says:

It’s not a tragedy when a drunk reckless driver only kills himself…

  3. jen says:

I have no Sympathy for drunk drivers….. Normally they are the ones who end up living and killing innocent people…

I would like to remind everyone that any needless loss of live is a tradgey. The comments I just read are extremely hurtful to family and friends of the deceased. A good policy is if you can’t say something nice keep your commits to yourself. What if this had been your loved one!

Well said Carol, the mans son came by today to see his fathers mangled truck, the young man broke down in tears when he laid his eyes on the wreck. It was real sad what a tragic way to go.

Yes, at least no others were hurt. My uncle had a serious problem.. Everyone has tried to help him.. This man has left a son and two beautiful grand kids behind.. So before you people post your insencencitive comments, remember there are family members that have to deal with his loss and his stupidity around it… I am relieved that it is only one family that has to deal with this and not more… At least let his body get cold before you start spewing hatred and his family heal as best they can.. Half of you that are talking shit have probably driven drunk before and made it… So before you start making snap judgements reflect on what you have done in the past.. Pretty sure your record
What my uncle did was wrong and he payed the ultimate price for it… Now, his family has to suffer… Reading mean and hateful comments… So I suggest you keep your hateful comments to yourself and grow the hell up and think about other people’s feeling who are going through a tragedy… The first 3 people that posted nasty comments I am willing to bet you have driven drunk at one time or another… Remember even one drink puts you over the limit you pieces of garbage…

Doug Chozianin, Ed, & jen : I TO HAVE NO SYMPATHY WHEN IT COMES TO DRUNK DRIVERS,BUT BEFORE YOU OPEN UP UR NARROW MIND MOUTHS AND SPEAK WITH OUT HAVING ANY REGARDS TO THE FAMILY OF THE PERSON WHO DID JUST LOSE HIS BATTLE TO HIS DISEASE MAYBE YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT THE FAMILY WHO IS STILL SITTING HER HAVING TO READ WHAT UR OPINIONS ARE AND THAT’S JUST WHAT THEY ARE OPINIONS. WE HAVE TO BE THE ONES WHO HAVE TO DRIVE BY THE ACCIDENT SITE AND LOOK AT IT EVERY DAY. AND PICK UP THE PIECES THAT HE LEFT BEHIND. MY UNCLE WAS ONE OF THE NICEST CARING PEOPLE I KNOW.AND IT JUST SO HAPPENED THAT HE WAS A PUPPET ON A DEADLY STRING. AND THE NEXT TIME YOU ARE AT THE BAR OR AT A PARTY AND YOU HAVE ONE DRINK TWO DRINKS JUST REALIZE YOU COULD BE THE NEXT PERSON BEHIND THE WHEEL AND HOPEFULLY YOU DON’T PAY THE ultimate Price.YOUR LIFE. AND THANK YOU JESUS HE DID NOT TAKE ANY ONE ELSE FAMILY WITH HIM. WE (THE FAMILY) DON’T CARE WHAT NEG.REMARKS YOU HAVE TO SAY WE KNOW HOW HE WAS AND WE LOVED HIM. SO QUITE TRYING TO RUN HIS NAME IN THE MUD GO CLEAN UP YOUR BACK YARD BEFORE YOU START TRYING TO CLEAN UP SOMEONE ELSE. UNCLE ARCHIE I LOVE YOU AND YOU WILL BE MISSED BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN,THIS IS NOT GOOD BYE THIS IS SEE YOU IN THE STREETS OF GOLD WITH OUR MAKER JESUS CHRIST. TILL THEN
