June 20–The Town Center branch of Wells Fargo Bank in Palm Coast was robbed just after 4 p.m. today (June 20). (See the Iron Man robbery video below)

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office reports that  a black male, about 5 feet, 4 inches tall, entered the bank, brandished a handgun and demanded money. He was described as wearing a tan jump suit, an Ironman Mask, tan boots, gloves and a red and black backpack.

The robber fled the scene in what is believed to have been a maroon color compact vehicle with a Florida tag. The vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on Belle Terre Parkway. It’s not clear how much money the robber got away with–at least not publicly, yet.

“The perimeter is locked down, the scene is locked down, they’re talking to the witnesses inside, waiting for the FBI to arrive on scene,” Sheriff’s Office’s Spokesman Lt. Bob Weber said at 5:40 p.m. “The bank at this point is closed, we just have it cordoned off with the perimeter, the entrance and exit to the bank.”

The FBI is involved and will be jointly investigating the robbery with the sheriff’s office because the bank is federally insured.

A couple of vehicles were stopped leaving the scene, Weber said, a routine precaution after a robbery, but were not involved, Weber said.

Traveling north, the alleged robber may have tripped more surveillance video recordings by crossing traffic lights equipped with red-light cameras, which do shoot video, though Weber was not aware whether the video is recorded continuously or only when an infraction is recorded. The cameras are controlled by American Traffic Solutions, the private company contracted by Palm Coast to operate the system.

A sheriff’s sergeant at the Palm Coast precinct, Weber said, is working with the city to obtain any potential footage.

There were reportedly seven to 10 customers in the bank at the time of the incident. There were no injuries.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 386/313-4911. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Big crook is robbed by little crook standing at 5′ 4″.
The bank was supposed to rob the little guy (without a gun)
and all would have been right as rain – a day like any other.
Only banks can steal money legally. Someone needs to explain this to the hold-up man.
By golly, the financial food chain went into reverse today.

    Glad no one was hurt.

So much for the crime rate in this area going down!

  3. Peggy says:

I hope he filled out his withdrawal slip properly !!!

  4. Girl says:

OMG what is going on in our town – last six (6) months, rapes, murders, and now a
bank robbed – don’t feel safe anymore – what has changed.. oh yea new people in charge?

  5. Ron Hubbard says:

Isn’t that Skelator robbing that bank? Call the comic book company. They know where he lives!

  6. Anon says:

Odd looking boots, though couldn’t see well in the photo. Also the jumpsuit seems to fit strangely. Are they sure the person is male, and not a female ?

  7. Gus says:

Brazen and dangerous day time act. I guess a sign of the times since there are no jobs in Palm Coast just the regular eatery jobs that pay pittance and subsidized with armed robberies.

The PIO should know that Red Light cameras are only activated when breached which brings me to an important question; where are the road deputies. Just how many are on special assignments and special details. I never see deputies on the road anymore. Perhaps if they were proactive more often these robberies can be prevented and deterred. This City needs there own Police Department. After all, Flagler Beach and Bunnel has.

I was thinking there was too much junk in the trunk for it to be male. And if Iron Man is man and not maiden, at 5’4″ I’d be ticked off too, heck I have 3″ on Iron Man and I’m a woman. This person clearly does not know the proper way in which to rob a bank. You don’t go blazing in like Iron Man, you do it like Queen Latifah and gang in Set it Off. Iron Man is going about it all wrong…that jump suit isn’t going to make you fly silly and those gloves do not give you super human strength. You ended up having to flee in a compact car..now when exactly did Iron Man do that and was Gwyneth Paltrow driving with her children, Apple, Dumpling, and Pie in tow?

  9. Ron Hubbard says:

Solution: Why not have all banks put up a large sign saying:
“No one will be served if wearing a mask!”

    That will show’em! Problem solved!

    • Education #1 says:

I don’t think the sign would’ve have stopped this very determined looking person. What they need is to design an automatic door locker before they enter the bank with the masks and any other disguise that covers the entire face. Anyone entering a bank in a form of disguise Obviously is not up to anything good. I am sure the techies and other geniuses out there can design something like this. After Bonnie and Clyde back in the day and all of the other bank robbers, you would think someone would’ve already came up with a way to stop it from happening.

  10. Truth says:

The sheriffs office has been crippled by the new administration. The investigations division is losing detectives to the point where the sheriff is now refusing to let investigators transfer out. Morale among the deputies is extremely low and that means that crimes do not get solved and criminals run wild. You can’t force a cop to do a good job you can only force them to show up for work. I think the sheriff had some good intentions but ….. The results speak for themselves. I hope something changes fast.

  11. fla native says:

He might have robbed the bank to pay his red light camera tickets. Either that or gave the money to the school board.

  12. FreddyK says:

    I am Iron Man!
    Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
    Can he walk at all
Or if he moves will he fall?

    Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head
    We’ll just pass him there
    Why should we even care?

    • Geezer says:

      He was turned to steel
      In the great magnetic field
      When he travelled time
      For the future of mankind

      Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
      Planning his vengeance
      That he will soon unfold

  13. The Truth says:

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath about the “crime in our area”. Is there crime in our area? Sure there is. There isn’t a city in America without crime. Thanks to sites like Flagler Live, we find out about these things almost instantly. In many other cities in our country, you do not hear about these things – even though they are always occurring. I think we all need to take a step back and understand that Palm Coast is still a great city to live in, but we will experience things like this time to time.

    • Girl says:

I know we are not crime free – but it seems lately we are having an awful lot of problems that we didn’t have before, & trying to figure out what is the problem that Palm Coast seems to be experiencing now ….????

    Ya-da-Ya-da Ya-da…..

Bad guys 100plus…Good guys ZERO! What’s wrong with this picture?

  18. Are you serious says:

@The Truth…..are you serious?? You are saying that lower priced housing and felon overflow from Holy Hill, Daytona, and Orlando has nothing to do with an increase in crime Palm Coast has experienced?? Cmon MAN…..it is not a lack of reporting in the past and simply no awareness of the fact these things were happening here and other cities…..they were not happening, not with the frequency that they are occurring now. Granted social media and the internet have increased media outlets for this type of information to passed out… But the economy has placed many people in positions of desperation and housing prices have plummeted to the point that the influx of felony laden undesirables are finding this area a perfect place to reside….I am not happy about this…just saying….

  19. Seminole Pride says:

Either start letting us carry a side arm, or Bank’s should hire a armed guard. This country is getting way out of hand, with the shape this economy is.

I believe there is steady video at the intersections with cameras. Please look at Flagler Beach and Bunnell current issues regarding their police departments. Flagler Beach has one officer patrolling their entire city on the night shift. Yep hats what we want.

  22. RG says:

The story should of read ” Bank Robber turned into swiss cheese.” I guess Banks in Palm Coast should evaluate the safety of thier staff and customers, Maybe an armed guard as a deterrent. Its not about the money its about the victims. It would make me feel safer doing my banking.

  23. Jennifer Lopez says:

well there is an opening at Palm West Reality now huh ?
